The flip-through part of the video begins at minute 5:20. I also include an explanation of how I plan it out for a week's worth of lessons in our home, and that's at 21:50. Do any of you guys have experience with B&R science, and how did you like it? Thank you all for joining me for another video!

This was SUPER helpful. I'm thankful that I came across your video. Two years ago I was dealing w health challenges and I was beyond overwhelmed with all the different moving parts of Blossom and Root so I didn't get too far into it. But this year I want to pick it up again. And Hopefully I can be more organized and thoughtful with it.

Not comparing health issues, just in solidarity- as someone with autoimmune issues and trying to keep flares at bay, my heart goes out to you! Homeschooling on a day that I feel fantastic isn't always a breeze- homeschooling on days when I don't feel physically there is such a challenge. I'm sorry about your struggles. If this was at all helpful I'm happy to hear it. And I hope you feel better 💛

Thank you for this review! We're a faith based family, but I also prefer secular curriculum. I am completely fine with teaching evolution over time (we don't believe in a literal 7 day creation), but I wasn't sure if or how often the curriculum would go out of its way to make a point of saying there is no creator/God. It sounds like that doesn't happen and even if it did, it seems pretty easy to omit those pieces. We've been using their language arts programs this year and love them. I'm really looking forward to using the level 3 science next year and being able to tailor it to our interests!

Yes, all of Blossom and Root science is evolution-based. You'll see it also in the Botany and the Animal Kingdom curriculums. My kids have learned evolution even though it's not where our beliefs align. As long as it's not every lesson for every curriculum, I find myself tailoring a lot for our family as well and it doesn't deter me (to an extent) when coming down to a curriculum choice. I think that no matter the year (at least through year 5 that I've purchased and looked through) that the science can definitely be suitable for those that are faith-based, if you don't mind family conversations!

Does their political views leak into the science curriculum?

So far in the years that I have purchased, they do not. Levels 1-4 so far. I have not purchased B&R Language Arts for a couple of years but I do not remember there being anything telling in levels pre-k, 2 and 3. I can't vouch for any other subjects or levels 👍

Thank you for sharing this curriculum. We are also a faith based family, but we use a public parent partnership program and I’m always looking for great non religious curriculum I can use with my family.

You're welcome! I find using conversations where there are differences in science philosophies, instead of avoidance altogether, holds an important space in our homeschool. I hope this was helpful for you :)

Of course! I know some christ-centered curriculum can be difficult for jewish families to work around. I'm glad you've found something that works great for your family ☺

I've always used Watson Family Press. They have extremely fair prices and they do a wonderful job, and ordering from them is ridiculously uncomplicated. I will leave a link to their website in the description box ☺

Please don’t reference evolutionary theory as an opinion or belief. That is like saying the theory of gravity or germ theory is an opinion or belief.

Oh good, I was going to ask if it is appropriate for multiple ages outside of the "level". I see some of them had pictures inside - did you opt to print in black and white, or is that the only option? I'm an Animist - and we learn from a Secular standpoint (I personally think everyone should irrelevant of their personal beliefs) I always point out that everything should be questioned = especially science and History, there are multiple scientific theories, and evolution is but one of them, yes sure it's the most popular and certain aspects of the theory are obvious - but not all of it, and when money and funding are involved certain outcomes can be paid for = humans are corruptable. It's the same with History = the Victor tells the story/writes the history, who won the war? Why? Who burnt the books? Why?

Definitely appropriate for kids of multiple levels! At least Years 1-3 I would say can TOTALLY be done family style, and she does say it works for grades first through fourth- Year 4 does look like it picks up the content a bit. I'm sure if it's taken slower it can be done for younger grades, though engineering and mechanics is a heavy topic in and of itself. As far as the printing goes, the PDF has covers and all of the scavenger hunts in color! The rest of the material is sent in black and white as far as the Years I have purchased. I created a separate PDF of the scavenger hunts and had them printed in color and laminated.
