Good video m8, glad you went the heavy duty clutch. I would have done the same. Given mine was under warranty with no mods, i decided to do normal clutch. I did not even have a tow bar. They were ready to try and blame it on me towing heavy loads etc. So they were going to get me to send in info on what i was towing like weight etc/loads 🤣🤣

Cheers mate, yeah they try anything to get out of warranty hey! And even if you were towing, isn't that what they are built for? These business practices are dirty and very shady. It really annoys me and I can't stand dealing with these dealers when it comes to servicing and warranty work, they act so dumb it's ridiculous!

I believe that the dealer should've done the clutch under warranty. I guess I was lucky that despite the exhaust and clutch as well as the modified snorkel I still got an injected arm and censor replaced under warranty with mine. Their refusal to repair yours under warranty is pathetic.

It's a shame Toyota 70 series standard clutches don't hold up to any sort of off road work or towing once you go with bigger tyres or "real" world use but it's great to see there are several off road parts ready to go

Common problem The noise is gear rollover The standard clutch has a anti rattle mechanism in the The replacement may not Next time it makes the noise put the tranny case in neutral select four gear and left the clutch out If the noise isn’t there is it’s gear rollover Common problem Will be worse when hot

When I put my TORQIT exhuast on, the clutch started slipping going up hills while accelerating. Put in a NPC 1300Nm in and that fixed the issue. Interestly the the clutch I pulled out was a near new stock Toyota clutch on a new flywheel. My NPC throw out bearing makes noise in 1st when coasting at slow speed, it's a known issue and its a stock Toyota throwout bearing.

@OutbackOffroadNT Better deal with T.T I had a similar problem with a 2004 Hilux clutch, the problem was insufficient clamp pressure with pressure plate, the composite clutch plate lining glazes causing the slip. My vehicle had 35 k with the clutch out it slipped, no towing or hard work, a clutch specialist rebuilt a pressure plant with increased clamp ,I fitted the refitted the new clutch and the box , no problems 140k still perfect. I was told Toyota to knew about this problem.

Read somewhere that the OEM clutch can only handle 450nm max which is why the manual HD-T, HD-FTE and V8 diesel all capped to 430 nm from the factory.

I noticed symptoms to late and replaced master am slave an bypassed the dampner. New clutch in etc and I cause there's no damper all I can hear is my clutch subtle whirring as it engages under my feet every gear change. 😅still not 100% its fixed ill take it for 2nd pair of eyes an look it over before I burn this out. Similair kms done and clutch is cooked never experienced that before

I can’t understand why your stuffing the clutch. I had a G60 in the 70s Nissan I used do a lot of water crossings and the thrust bearing used to seize I think in one year I did 4. I now have a Navara 350k and still the same clutch I put it down to not ridding the clutch

I realise your vehicle is slightly modified, but your minor mods killed the clutch on a relatively new vehicle? Really? I think there is some manufacturing defect to it somewhere. I personally think it's not good enough from Toyota to use every excuse under the sun to decline your warranty request. They charge enough for the 70 Series, the least they can do is provide exemplary customer service to their loyal customers.
@OutbackOffroadNT

I think the sad reality is that Toyota knows that most of their buyers will be city/Suburban shop crawlers so it would never be worth for them to put in a heavy duty clutch. It's a shame that the minority who use these rigs for what they are designed to do get punished because of the majority who buy these Utes and Wagons just because they are what is considered "fashionable". At minimum Toyota should be at least offering a factory upgrade to a more heavy duty clutch because it is a joke how something as major as a clutch can break/wear out so easily when the vehicle is driven they way it is advertised to be used. Do better Toyota
