I love how none of the Jays came back except one that only snatched one piece of food and then dipped.

Love Blue Jays! I put peanuts out everyday for them. I had several pair this summer but now only 2 or 3 show up. I thought they don't migrate, but maybe some do.

So beautiful. They have previously learned who the boss is. Red bellied woodpeckers follow blue jays sometimes. In the past, as I treated blue jays, I will expect another blue and white face from their flock, but then see this same sized bird that sits lower and also likes peanuts but with the red and white face. I love those kinds of surprises.

That red-bellied's beak is NOT to be messed with! I hear the sweet chickadees and other little birds chirping -- do they have a feeder of their own?? If not they must be hoping desperately for a chance to dine @the feeder if only for a few moments before the big bullies show up again ...Yet another excellent video!

Not to worry! There are 6 other feeders in the yard plus suet. Everyone eats at my house 😊

The jays are my favorite bird they are beautiful and highly intelligent for having such small brains. The red bellied woodpecker is beautiful too but not as striking as the jays are. I love birds. They are fun to watch especially with window feeders. We have jays that cram inside the little feeder meant for small birds all the time. The woodpeckers just perch and lean back but the jays will find a way to fit where they really shouldn't be able to.
