In V5.10, when in editing mode, pressing OK doesn't return me to the main menu, am I doing something wrong? Apart from storing the preset, there seems to be no other way to leave the editing screens.

It should definitely work as shown in the video. If you pressed OK to enter manual Mode then pressing OK again should exit that mode and take you back to the User Patch that you started with, without changing the patch settings. If you do want to change the patch then you press Store to exit and the patch will be updated with the settings and program you chose. Make sure you actually have Version 5.10 of the Firmware installed: it is shown on the LCD as the pedal powers up.

Yeah, it's V5.10. Let me rephrase my problem: when editing a patch, is there any way to return to the main menu from the 'Name your patch' screen or the screen where you edit the three parameters? For instance, if I choose an user patch and click on 'edit', no button works but the P1/2/3 knobs and 'Ok'. 'Ok' will take me to the Name screen, where 'Edit' functions as backspace, up/down change ketter and 'Ok' takes you to the next character. The only possible exit is to click on 'Store' and save. Thank you so much for your help.

@@franciscorodriguez-u1j Sorry I misread your question! In Editing mode press OK twice until you get to the 'Name your patch' screen (this avoids changing any of the settings), then press Store twice, which will keep the same name and store it back to the same patch number. This leaves the original patch unaltered.

Thank you so much. I have to say I'm extremely happy with the pedal! 😊

None of the echoes appeared to have low or high cut progressively applied I.e. the tone of each repeat sounded exactly the same as it diminished. Is this still currently the case? This nuance makes such a difference in bringing magic to the sound e.g H&C, Q2 or TVS3.

Ernie the Firmware does not have anything directly to do with the sound of the pedal. An analogy would be the operating system of your computer which runs the display, accepts inputs from the keyboard etc. The BN Firmware does this and similar jobs in the pedal. The actual sounds are produced by a separate DSP (Digital Signal Processor) chip (incidentally, the same chips as used in the H&C). I can assure you that the echoes do have tone shaping filtering applied - in fact a large percentage of the DSP code is devoted to exactly that.

@@PhilipHawthorne Sorry Philip, but I never mentioned Firmware. What tone shaping is applied to the echoes in real time?

@@ernielamprell4532Yes Ernie, but this video is explicitly about the Firmware Update, hence my answer. I refer you to Mick Taylor's answer to a similar question you posted a while back in the Blue Nebula Owners Club on Facebook.

@@PhilipHawthorne Philip, I have seemingly committed two crimes, 1 revisiting a question I have asked previously 2 Asking a question apparently off topic Great crimes indeed (not) I have listened to echo repeats on the BN and to date, hear no echo tone shaping. I could be wrong, but wouldn't buy one without hearing this first hand. On the Q2, each echo is progressively fed back to an EQ block, so this modelling aspect is part of the echo process, as they happen as distinct from an operating system. Keep smiling!

@@ernielamprell4532 In the BN each echo is also fed through an EQ code block. I'm not a DSP expert (I just wrote the Firmware) but I believe it applies a number of low pass and high pass filters i'e' it applies a roll-off at both bass and treble frequencies. Every time the signal is fed back it is filtered so each repeat should gradually lose both bass a treble frequencies to simulate the effect of frequency losses due to the magnetic recording process used in old tape/disc echo machines. The BN also simulates tape saturation and wow and flutter effects. Out of interest and for your convenience, I looked up you original question and Mick's answer from a year ago: Ernie Lamprell: Does the BN current firmware have the echo tone shaping bass cut that the old tape machines have? This progressive bass cut results in echoes residing in the 1KHz region. This together with W&F and tape wear adds magic to the emulation. Bass Cut & W&F is on the H&C, the TVS3 and was on the Q2/20. No reverb needed in the main. Reply Mick Taylor: Ernie Lamprell Yes the Blue Nebula does have the tone shaping of the old tape machines, it also has the compression/saturation that tape produces when it is driven harder. Wow and Flutter is part of the echo emulations in the Blue nebula. Reverb is a different question and is something that is not included with the Blue Nebula or the TVS3, the Alesis rack units has a reverb but I believe the H&C does not although it does pretend a reverb with ghost heads.

Hi Philip😊 how get the "pre set mode" and the 49 pre set patch?
@PhilipHawthorne

The presets are before the user patches. If you scroll down from User Patch 0, you will see Preset 49. Alternatively you can scroll up beyond Patch 127 and you will arrive at preset 0.
