There's a clear difference between them. Not on this video, cause his room seems to be acoustically treated and quiet. If your room has any kind of echo or if you have any kind of background noise, SM7B is far superior to Yeti. You can still hear the difference on this video, but its not that big here.

@@PhillipRPeck I appreciate you doing this one as this kind of answers in more detail the question I asked on the last video. Basically, you need a Mic and cable for USB mic and the price is pretty much right there. For the XLR you almost need to double the cost with the added extras needed to make it work properly. And it also seems you can't skimp on the cables or try to do an XLR to USB cable with a dynamic mic. That seems to be a waste if you get the dynamic mic setup.
@PhillipRPeck
3 жыл бұрын
@@KMSchriver I'd never even heard of an XLR to USB adapter until a few days ago. I really don't know how well that would work but I'm a bit intrigued. I think to go the XLR/audio interface route you have to be really invested in, willing to spend time in, and really be interested in audio. As opposed to just wanting something good quality but also just move on and do other things (the USB route) ... if that makes sense

I get that a lot, and I feel your pain, there were a lot of times in the past when I thought it sounded terrible. The key is getting it close to you and keeping the gain as low as possible. You want the mic to pick up as little of the room noise as possible while keeping your voice at a good level
@InfectedSquid
3 жыл бұрын
@@PhillipRPeck this what I do already to keep it on a reasonable quality level and I STILL can't get the right quality. I also have to common issue (with Blue Yeti's) of digital hiss, which is hard to remove with de-noise tools. I will upgrade to the Shure SM7B, as soon as I can. It doesn't only come down to difficulty working with the microphone. I want to step up my production process. Great video by the way.

Reduce your volume and gain, a LOT, my gain is at about 1/8 turn and volume at 1/4 turn. I have a Yeti and was thinking of going to a shure, but been amazed by the Yeti. I have a pet pigeon that constantly flies to my shoulder or buzzes my head, and it always worries me that the wing flapping is going to be caught, but it never has. I had a cold once, and had to keep clearing my throat, as quietly as I could, and it never picked it up either, keyboard clicks, mouse clicks, people using power tools outside, no issues... I also have a air purifier on high blowing on me as my apt gets very hot, and no issues, however.. I do have it in a boom arm on a separate table as I use for other things, plus I have a windscreen on it, along with a pop filter, and I speak very close, sometimes nearly touching the mic. I USE to have issues, but they went away after reducing gain and volume. I also use Logitech G-Hub, though have no profiles applied.

This video is a banger. Also Captain Cabinets, trapped in cabinets, can he get out, will he get out? I have a Yeti nano and I use it in a noisy office close mic style with a clown nose windscreen. Cardioid pattern does OK for noise rejection and I'm able to keep the gain low by being so close therefore sound quality is good enough for my purposes (tutorials for high school classes).

The Blue yeti is a much more suitable choice for me because I get a microphone with good sound quality at an attractive price, which makes the male voice sound warmer, to be used only for playing games, for push to talk use. My only concern is that it will pick up too much noise from the unit, the birdsong outside the window shouldn't bother anyone, so if I use an arm and pad, will it be much less noisy?
@VirtuelleWeltenMitKhan

I would highly recommend a mic arm for the Blue Yeti too. You can even see, well hear, in the video how bad the sound is if the mic pics up vibrations from the table. If you want any upgrade from a Blue Yeti in PC usage it would be the mic stand for me that and a pop filter.

Id put vids in my ebay description to get buyers confidence etc. If you need help for free with that stuff, id gladly do it for free for you in exchange for your knowledge on audio and editing in DaVinci etc. If not, that's fine. Id default then to my first paragraph. Lol. Have a good day man.

Don't I have links in the description? Thanks for the comments, advice, and offers of assistance. I'm kind of phasing out of KZitem so I don't know if I'll get around to making a video on EQ but I know there are a lot of good creators out there who are way more qualified than I am who have made videos about it. If I'm recording a USB mic like the Yeti, I usually record into Adobe Audition, but I also might record into Resolve if I need to fill in some VO directly into a video project. If you have any specific questions on audio or video editing, I'm happy to help to the best of my abilities.
