This was only my second ever fish carving project 3 years ago. I hope you catch the newest bluegill project I just finished a couple weeks ago.

Back then I just used water. But I started making my own reducer not long after that. It made all the difference in the world. I have a video on how I make it. I’ll also be doing another bluegill for my next project after if finish the current rainbow trout I’m working on now.

Thanks, do you have a YT channel where I can see your work? I bet it’s better than you think.

thanks, working on part two now hope to have it out early next week. Yes water works as a reducer but trust me it’s a lot smoother with a actual reducer and can make a significant difference in performance. You can use commercial reducers or you can make it yourself at a fraction of the cost. There are videos here on KZitem that show how to make it and all have slightly varying differences but I think they all work about the same. I have a DYI video on how I make it if you want to check it out. kzitem.info/news/bejne/yqF42Xl_koeYmW0si=W4_7DwkDPKFGn5s7

Great job what material do you use for the fins

I used plexiglass I had laying around on this one and a crappie I did before this one. I liked the transparency and it was fairly easy to shape and carve. Part 3 and 4 of this series shows the cutting and shaping of the fins. This and one other is the only ones I’ve used the plexiglass on. I plan on entering some in competition and with the exception of glass eyes they have to be all wood. So the others I’ve done since have been wood.
