They are the most incredible blues bands out there! Unbeatable, every one of them.❤😊

Matt Guitar Murphy (RIP), looked young for a long time. I think he was on one of those American Folk And Blues tours of Europe in and around 1963.

That trombone solo was smokin' hot. As a t-bone player myself, I know how hard those high register notes are to reach. He seems to move through them with ease!

Blues Brothers Band - Peter Gunn Theme 1992 performed live proves to be a brilliant rendition!
This was the tune I liked to play in my old 'bluesmobile'. A '76 Buick with a hot rodded 454. It would definitely accelerate. In a straight line only.

Several other guys played on the record but didn't appear in the movie. Most of this band was 3/4th's Booker T & the MG's & the original Saturday Night Live house band. I've heard several versions of this song & this version smokes them all (including Macini's).

Most of original members (minus Belushi & Aykroyd) are in this video. Missing are the keyboardists Murphy "Murph" Dunne (who toured & was in the movie), Paul Shaffer (yep, the one your thinking of played on the record but didn't tour w/ the band) & drummer Willie "Too Big" Hall. Tom "Bones" Malone, Alan "Mr Fabulous" Rubin & "Blue Lou" Mancini own this video. Matt "Guitar" Murphy, Steve "The Coloniel" Cropper & Donald "Duck" Dunn keeping the beat. Sadly, Duck Dunn passed away today. RIP, Duck!

Via Wikipedia: Band formationEdit With the help of pianist-arranger Paul Shaffer, Belushi and Aykroyd started assembling a collection of studio talents to form their own band.[1] These included SNL band members saxophonist "Blue" Lou Marini and trombonist-saxophonist Tom Malone, who had previously played in Blood, Sweat & Tears. At Shaffer's suggestion, guitarist Steve Cropper and bassist Donald "Duck" Dunn, the powerhouse combo from Booker T. & the M.G.'s and subsequently almost every hit out of Memphis' Stax Records during the 1960s, were signed as well. Belushi wanted a powerful trumpet player and a hot blues guitarist, so Juilliard-trained trumpeter Alan Rubin was brought in, as was guitarist Matt "Guitar" Murphy, who had performed with many blues legends.
