Such a great video :) I just have one question. It seems i'll need to undertake it as well and if I want to replace the hoses, they come only in pair. The problem is in the lower hose (NOT the rocket cover -> PCV) seems delivering coolant according to the OEM pictures? Is it true therefore i have to drain the coolant before? Thank you very much for the answer.
@TheCowgirlNiamh
4 жыл бұрын
Hi there, they do come in a pair but they are banded together and can be separated if you only need to replace one or the other. There is no need to drain the cooling system. Just put a pan under to catch any coolant and make sure you bleed the system after 👍 Best of luck ☺️

Hello there and thank you for the video. I too, undertook the action of replacing my vent and cleaning my valve cover while the mechanic fixes my hydraulic lifters... But now... the hairy part I managed to create... I could use or anybody's help here... I decided to clean the inner part of the valve cover thoroughly as it's never been cleaned in my opinion. But unfortunately I destroyed the two gaskets which sit on the sides of the plate where the oil gases travel to the hose to exit the valve-train... Could you please give me an idea where I should get new gaskets from as they do not have OE number and are not sold here in my country... I am now looking for cars which are sold in parts but the owners are only willing to sell a whole valve cover to me... Any ideas are much appreciated :) I am talking about the gasket on 4:41 of the video as there is another gasket on the other side, once you take the plate off the valve cover. I destroyed them with oil diluent while cleaning them. Cheers and best of regards!

Unfortunately I don’t know if it can be bought separately? Parts of mine did fall apart probably due to age but I didn’t worry about it as the gasses will still vent out to where they are supposed to go. It’s not like an external gasket which would leak out somewhere else.

@TheCowgirlNiamh

Yes that’s normal 👍 The other hose is for the cooling system. They are separate hoses bound by that rubber cover for neatness. Check the cooling connector behind the engine where the other hose goes, if it’s not leaking then you can separate the two hoses and just do the crankcase. It’s very common to have a sneaky leak behind there and I did so I just did the whole lot to be done with it 👍☺️

No, not at all 👍 Just replace the hose that you need. It will come attatched to the coolant hose but they can be separated if your coolant hose is not leaking. I was just showing the whole job because it can cause high emissions but not everyone has to worry about that 😉

Hi there, yes I did have a rattling a couple of years ago. At the time I couldn’t find a repair kit for that style of disa so I got a new one.
