Really interesting video guys, I was told by an owner in the US his M2C was pushing out just over 440bhp, I took that as gospal and used those figures in my review. Since I've been hearing exactly what you discovered. Looking forward to getting mine, hopefully unlock that initial power restriction asap. Cheers and keep up the good work!

Thank you Joe. The issue with the US is that they use Dynojet machines over there and they read higher than most other dynos. Usually by about 11-15% which would explain the 44-450 BHP figure they are talking about. Enjoyed your video too. We need to collaborate on one :-)

US dyno always read about 8 to 10% higher than in Australia/UK. It seems to be a calibration and equipment issue that is accepted over there. Hence the dynojet comment above. The issue is so consistent that we call it "American hp" when discussing tuned or dynoed cars. A very well known issue in the Evo, Subaru, Skyline communities.

Could it be that his M2C had an aftermarket tune on it? Here in Canada, the M4C is listed at 444bhp, and since both cars use the S55 engine, i dont imagine it would be too difficult to get the M2C up to 440

Stock the M2C has a much worse intake design as they blocked the grille fresh air scoops. This will have an effect on the power it can make, especially once the engine is hot. The M2C also weighs slightly more than the M4, so that’s a consideration also.
@fastanfun

The Eventuri intake was designed so no modification was required to the car itself and has closed ducts to keep the engine bay heat out. You could modify the panel cutting the openings open to allow more fresh air in to the Intakes. In theory it would be similar yes. If both cars had OPFs.

Would be great to know the actual wheel HP

It's usually 10-12% for drive train losses(on a rear wheel driver car), so that's 49 hp. Which is 360 rwhp. Someone can correct me if i'm off the mark.

Thank you! Do you have any thoughts on the new Supra? It's my understanding that it has N55 engine, detuned to 335hp. Is that correct.
@EvolveAutomotive

That’s incorrect, it will have the B58 from Z4 M40i. Looks wise we’ll reserve our judgement until we see it in person. In theory it should drive similar to the Z4, which initial impressions have been positive of. Looking forward to driving either/both!

From our experience so far it means it should be VERY tuneable.

Another brilliant video and also intresting, would you say there's a massive difference in Competion / CP to the standard M2 to drive. Also saves me looking through your Archive , what is the average BPH of a stage 1 on a 15 plate M4 , Also does the stage 1 sort the skittish feel out at all, the way its tuned ??

Going to drive the competition tomorrow and make a video with my views. 2015 on old software would make around 425 bhp stock. Our map would bring in power like the competition Pack M4.
@batebee

sorry , so are you saying it would take the 15 plate M4 up to about 450 bhp with a stage 1 or am wrong ??

Did BMW offer a map change on the early M4s to remove the spikey torque that gave traction issue? Looking at a AUC 64 plate M4, but more likely to go 66 plate M2.

Yes they did software updates later to address this

Evolve Automotive thank you. Prefer luxury appeal of M4, but had on heart M2 better size and looks better to replace my 135i.

The standard M2 shares the engine from an M135i (£30k car) whereas the M2 Comp shares the engine from an M3/M4 (£60k cars). That is a ridiculous leap in engine technology/sophistication for what is essentially a facelift.
@EvolveAutomotive

Yes it's pretty good value from that perspective. It's similar to what they did with the Z3M when it went from S50 to S54.

You’re really classing the M2 comp “a facelift”?

Its about the same as its competition (pun intended) RS3, which got a entire brand new engine as well, that's a facelift too *shrug*

Cars usually only become future classics if they are limited in number. The M2C replaces the M2, so they will sell loads. The best thing about these might be that depreciation is very low, so you can basically run one for the cost of fuel and tyres. But I'm not so sure about future classic status. Now if/when they release the M2 CSL, that will be the future classic, causing M2C values to fall.

@Dark Horse Maybe you are right, but those cars you listed all dropped a lot in value so many were bought by people who didn't look after them or crashed them, or badly modified them, meaning that good ones are hard to find. Cars of the 80's and 90's weren't screwed together aswell as modern stuff either so many rusted away (especially Renault 5). If the speculation around the M2C is anything like the 1M, you'll be paying about the same in 2 years as you will for a new one now. You might aswell get in early then put it away with zero miles on it. Personally speaking, the idea of dry storing any car is a bit sad. I have a few cars in my collection and they all get driven. We are only here once. It's not like an M2C will ever be worth millions. You'd be better off taking your 40-50k and investing it properly if it's about the profit. I also think on something so modern you'll have to wait maybe 20 years to make a significant gain. By that point, petrol driven cars might not even be road legal.
