When I arrive, I had only HK$1000. Worked as a dishwasher at a steak house right away and sleep at the back of the restaurant. After 3 months, I was able to rent a room, go to school in the day time and work at the restaurant at night, sleeping less than 4 hours per day. Lucky to get job rotation in the restaurant as a waiter, cook, bar tender and manager. After graduation, I worked as a professional engineer and earn a MBA, teach part time in college. Climbed the corporate ladder to supervisor, manager, VP and director of the corporation. As long as you have drive and willing to learn and work hard, you can be successful. Cheers to all our Hongkongese... work hard and be successful.. you can do it. Nothing can stop us Hongkongese. We can survive anywhere in the world. Hongkongees are the second highest income group in UK, US, Canada, Australia and EU. 無嘢可以難到真香港人. UK

@@tfung8 you are a winner as a best version of yourself, no matter where you are, you are better than others around you because of your qualities, even HK or mainland China

You deserve the fruitful outcome and a successful career. You not only demonstrate a decisive, hardworking spirit that the old Hongkongers had but also a role model to any HKers who emigrate nowadays. Embrace a new living with the good character wherever every Hongkonger goes, the future is ahead you will not regret.

I started my studies at 8:00 am and went to work right after leaving school at 4:30pm. I slept less than 6 hours per day for past 2 years. Eventually, I got shingles in the last semester. After graduation, I couldn't even get an entry-level job related to my studies. But somehow, the classmate who was free-riding on the group project might get a job and start making big mistakes like they did in the school practice. I guess it is the mechanism of fate.

I do not agree with you said, whether you can get a job depends on your previous experience and whether there is a lucky match to the employer. You only talk about the successfull stories of hong kongers and in fact there must be some successful hongkongers. There are in fact a lot of unlucky hongkongers who cannot get a decent job,or any job at all even though they are capable and hardworking.
Why does HKers only see the low income and high tax situation in UK but never mention what they can get back from the higher tax they’ve paid in the future?? Free healthcare, free education, state pension, free travel pass plus other benefits! Nobody talks about those that can buy their UK home with cash can save thousands in interest or rental payment either. Nobody ever talks about the high salary but low disposable income in HK too. Cost of living isn’t that cheap in HK. Everything is in relative terms. So stop moaning and adapt to the new life. Life is not all about money. All first generation immigrants have to sacrifice for the benefit of their kids.

UK education is free but if you want kids not to be influence, once reach secondary school, it is better to enter private school in which is quite expensive. Or else live in some more rural area.... Welfare in UK is not as good as you see in the surface ,nor doctor isn't much better than HK. Honestly, Europe is still better than UK, the only thing is they speak English which is convenient for Hongkongers

this is a system where the government takes your $ when you are young, then give u back ur own $ when u get old. And along this process they took $ from you, making the process anti-value adding.
