OMG!!! I LOVED Boogerman!!!😂❤ 🪠☝️🟢 Burps, farts, boogers? Yes, please!! 😂 I grew up with male cousins and my dad, so toilet humor is always welcome! Lol I played Battletoads and Mrs. Pac Man all of the time on my Game Gear, and i enjoyed the Sonic games. I loved all of the Mario games on NES, Super, and 64, even Duck Hunt. My favorite random NES game is Mendel Palace. It'd be awesome to play that again.

I'm old enough to remember when Pong was cutting edge, so Jeff, any time you want to talk old games, I'm your guy. I think my favorite game ever was GTA Vice City. I love all the GTA games, and of course they've gotten bigger, better graphically, and more in depth, but it's tough to beat Vice City's 80's vibe for someone who was a teenager in the 80's.

Final Fantasy X is my happy place, on the PS2. I have Stardew Valley on Xbox, Steam, and mobile/tablet. I've lived thousands of hours in the Mass Effect and Dragon Age games, still chat with my fandom friends daily. ME3 multiplayer is my fave multiplayer ever. Loved Act Raiser on the SNES, along with Aladin and Donkey Kong. Since I'm having trouble reading books and gaming lately, my new special interest is visual novels, especially Otome (Japanese "maiden" games), which are usually choose your own adventure romance stories, with or without other game mechanics, including multiple routes, love interests, and endings (good, bad, or tragic) to explore. One of my favorites, Hakuoki: Kyoto Winds, is actually light on romance, and the romance options can be turned off on the options menu. It follows a young woman who gets swept up in the rise and fall of the Shinsengumi (a shogunate-appointed peacekeeping force in Kyoto) from about 1863-1869, when Japan was reunified as an Empire. There are added supernatural elements and a mystery, with a touch of horror. It's an impressive example of historical fiction/fan fiction, with TWELVE branching routes related to historical figures. Fabulous art, music, and voice performances. Intricate storytelling. Great FOUND FAMILY dynamics.

I'm late to the party but Little Nemo The Dream Master and Gremlins 2 are my favorite NES games. Love Earth Worm Jim and have a copy of Booger Man and Conker's Bad Fur Day on display in our game room, they really are weird awesome games. Recently played through Baldurs Gate 3 with the missus and loved it so much that we had to buy Lords Of The Waterdeep when we found it browsing a yard sale. Hopefully a nice and easy entry to the D&D board game realm. Anyhow, great video and cheers from northern Sweden.

Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil & Uncharted series are all at the top of my list as well. I played a lot of Tekken. Going back further to the 8 or 16 bit days, well I didn't play that many 8-bit games as I pretty much went from Atari 2600 to Sega Genesis. Skipping over the 8-bit generation. but I went from being obsessed with Missile Command to being obsessed with Sonic The Hedgehog. lol.

Thanks for the video! If you're looking for a Space Invaders-esque game that is also by Friedemann Friese, I'll highly suggest *Fire!*. It's a 1-2 player co-op "fable" game of trying to complete nine levels of increasing difficulty. Check the rulebook as the game can be a bit mathy especially when trying to defeat each invader (e.g. a 16-12-8-4 invader requires 16 damage, then 12 damage, then 8 damage, then 4 damage.) If one wants to include pinball games, also check out the Super-Skill Pinball series of roll-and-write games. :)

I like to play SuperHot the Card Game, an FPS where everything freezes when you plan and hell breaks loose again as soon as you act. Enemies keep entering your room to take you out, and you have to defend yourself by using things you find in there. To make the game stop you need to successfully perform a series of randomly selected achievements while at the same time continue to defend and survive. Fired enemy bullets hang in the air Matrix-style. Every card has two alternative effects, depending on whether it is turned against you or against an enemy. You deal with the incoming flow of cards and turn it around into your outgoing flow. I mostly play it solo, which is the main mode, but you can also play 2 or 3, cooperatively or competitively.

Among IP board games I really enjoy Resident Evil 3 Board Game. It's a fun campaign style adventure where you're to get out of the city and each scenario feels haunting cause the zombies hear your noises, the resources are scarce and it's very much in the spirit of classic RE style games (but now you can play it together with your friends).

I managed to get a copy of 6: Siege from an UK reseller and together with the time aspect and the skills of the different operators all matches had a great tension and they really did a great job bringing the fps shooter to the board. Slay the Spire also is fire. Due to explaining the rules I played Act 1 like five times now and everybody loved it. Looking forward to play more of that.

I’m sure this one maybe just slipped your mind because of how obvious it is, but Chip Theory is fulfilling their Elder Scrolls board game that is based on the video game series, and also expounds upon the mechanics of Too Many Bones (another game on your list). Very much looking forward to this one arriving later this year! As for my favorite video games, i agree that it’s hard to compare the generations, so I’ll give you 5 that I would pick up and play anytime I have the chance: TMNT 3 Manhattan Project, Portal 2, LoZ A Link to the Past (controversially my favorite Zelda game!), Left 4 Dead, and Metroid Fusion.

I'm also into retro games (still have my working NES and SNES from my childhood, plus N64 and Will that I recently picked up). You should drop by for video games and board games next time you're in the Ottawa area. Mechs vs. Minions is probably the best board game based on a video game franchise IP that I've played, even if it only uses a theme from League of Legends rather than actually feeling like that game. And it's a programming game (similar to RoboRally or Space Alert). Such a good game! Sanctum is basically Diablo the board game but is a good dice-placement game that is more similar to Castles of Burgundy than most hack-n-slash style games like Massive Darkness 2. Agree with Too Many Bones and Adrenaline and Under Falling Skies. I'm looking forward to Arydia that sounds like something between Final Fantasy and Legend of Zelda in a board game form. For a MOBA, I think Cloudspire is probably the best in that category. And if you want Warcraft, go Heroes of Land Air and Sea. Yomi was designed by a professional Street Fighter player/champion, and feels sort of like an advanced rock-paper-scissors with combos and specials that actually make it feel like a Street Fighter game.

Of recent video games, Stardew Valley, Terraria, and Hades are definitely some of my favourites, but Klonoa 2: Lunatea’s Veil on the ps2 is probably my all time favourite. I love that game so much and was so hyped when I saw they remade it. As for app-based games, I’m a video gamer that falls into the “avoid if possible” camp with those, mostly because part of the reason I adore board games is there are no screens involved. I spend far too much time looking at a screen, I don’t want my screen-free hobby to have screens. I’m positive that they’re great games and that I’d probably enjoy them, but they’re just not what I gravitate towards.

My favourite video game of all time used to be Monster Hunter World (hence my profile pic) but it changed to Baldur’s Gate 3 recently. I do love Chrono Trigger too and it has a special place in my heart as it was the very first RPG game I’ve ever played on SNES and got me introduced to other SquareRPGs. I loved both Earthworm Jim & Boogerman! Did you ever play Clayfighter 63 1/3? It’s a fighting game that had Boogerman and Earthworm Jim as playable characters.

My favorite video games from younger days in the arcade’s of the late 70’s and 80’s was tie between Bezerk and Galaga. Also played a lot of missile command back then. Any of those ring a bell Jeff?

Yea!! I talk about Galaga in this video! Haven’t played Bezerk but for sure remember Missile Command!

Yes I heard you talking about it and was like 🎉yeah. Under Falling Skies makes me think of Galaga every time I play it. BTW I have played it cooperatively with my son and his comment was Dad just like that old video game you like. 😂 If I had all the quarters back I pumped into both of those games back in the day I could probably finally afford to retire. 😮

Favorite video game of all time? Final Fantasy VI. There is NO game, no person, no media that has shaped me into who I am more than that game. The music is Nobuo Uematsu's BEST. Kefka and Ultros (🐙🐙🐙) are HILARIOUS. Story is the template to all Final Fantasy game after. Every character has character and is not some afterthought (except Umaro, but I still love you Umaro).... And more. #VideoGamingPerfection

@@FostertheMeeple Tactics is my 2nd favorite Final Fantasy game, but FFVI being amongst the first games I ever played in the series (FFIV was the first) it did a number on me during my growth. Played those as well as they came along, but as a Nostalgia-Mancer, earlier games are my thing. Like me with Jackie Chan movies. I much more prefer the ones before he started doing movies in America.

Top two for me by far are Elder Scrolls Betrayal of the Second Era and Mass Effect. Any thoughts on The Last of Us: Escape the Dark, coming q4? I will put it out into the universe, the world needs and deserves a good Zelda themed game, preferably Ocarina of Time or Majora’s Mask generation.

I’m always somewhat skeptical of video game IP boardgames because I’m always worried it’s just a cash grab. But we shall see!! I’ve been pushing for a Zelda game forever. Closest I’ve felt is sleeping gods

+1 to Chrono Trigger. I haven’t played it yet but how does Tiny Epic Quest do in terms of the video game feel? Seems to try to emulate a Zelda vibe. I think Bullet would be another one that feels very video game like given its fast pace.

@@FostertheMeeple There it is! I was scouring the comments to see if anyone mentioned Level 99's Bullet series. And there's a video game version of it now on Steam as well (demo). But yeah, Bullet is definitely inspired by Video Games like Tetris Battle or Dr Mario.
