The combination of Ray Eberly, classic and serene followed by the fabulous, silky swing of Helen O'Conell in "Green eyes" I first heard in 1962, I was 16,and I loved it, as I still do today.

Your mother was a great beauty and a great talent. My mother was born about 3 months after yours (8/15/1920) and told me that "Green Eyes" was the song she associated with the time when she and my father were dating (early 1940s).

It would be nice if you could tell us about any interesting memories your mom had about her career. She must have had a lot of stories about people she worked with or things that happen back in "The Old Days". You could use the "Discussion" tab on your KZitem channel.

"Green Eyes" is a popular song originally written in Spanish under the title "Aquellos Ojos Verdes" ("Those Green Eyes") by Cuban tenor Adolfo Utreta and Cuban pianist Nilo Menendez in 1929. The English translation was made by Eddie Rivera and Eddie Woods in 1931.

This was of course mimed for a movie. I like how Bob makes that very clear by completely ignoring the microphone, wheras Helen is more disciplined and at least turns it towards herself as a token gesture. They probably had a laugh about it afterwards. Having said that, what a great performance by the band and singers.

Yes. This is a scene from the movie "The Fabulous Dorseys." William Lundigan and Janet Blair played a fictionalized love interest couple in the fictionalized story. The cutaway to the older man in the wings is to Arthur Shields who was playing the Dorsey brothers' father.
