I just watched a bbc 2 live aid documentary where They have re written history! And even Geldof denied he’d said. “ just give us your f%#ing money” I remember it clearly.. where there were two occasions where he swore using the f - Word.... that day, the other was where he grabbed the mic and said the above! There are no clips on here and the bbc no doubt deleted the footage..? Millions of us heard it and repeated it the next day. yet they straight up deny it ever happened!? The question is.. why? Hmmm reminds me of Owell’s 1984 the editing of history.......

I was 5 years old when this was all happening and me, my mum and dad were sitting out in my neighbours garden listening to it with her living room window open and telly on full blast in her flat in drumchapel. Still to this day one of my happiest memories.

He along with many others highlighted to the world what was happening in Africa and tried to make a difference. I guess your opinion differs from mine if you can’t see that. You needed to have been there at the time to see what they were trying you to do. At least they tried to make a difference and certainly made a huge impact.

Human beings had been dying in huge numbers for months, and I think Bob was actually being restrained. Bob had witnessed this devastation firsthand and was frustrated and simply trying to express the dire urgency of the situation.

So the money raised from this didn’t feed starving people, it funded violence. The fact that starvation and wars still exist is very telling when both could be ended. Check out Frank Zappa and the others that came out of Laurel Canyon and from military/secret service families. By this I mean The Doors, The Byrds, The Mamas and the Papas etc. The music is great but it’s highly likely the counter culture movement and the drugs that went with it were pushed.

The money went where it was supposed to go, to help the people in Africa. It may not have fixed the problem but went a long to helping & with it, things would have been so much worst. It went to Africa, there were too many people all over the world watching , making sure that it did. Personal profit was not the goal, contrary to the belief of those that can’t understand helping the fellow man. If you seriously think that money went anywhere else, you’re crazy. Nobody could have gotten away with doing that, the whole world was watching.

@@ozz3790 That's pure and utter bullshit. The Ethiopian economy has grown at a massive rate since 1985, and there have been no major famines in the country since then. I believe they did have another famine in 2003, but only 1500 people died. 300k people died in 1985, in comparison. That's an obvious example of how much the country changed

I've often wondered why Astbury was there - The Cult weren't on the line up that day, were they? Altho I do recall some 'Good Morning' type programme 12 months or so before live aid where he was slagging off Nik Kershaw and Howard Jones - who both happened to play this show! I wonder how much money they would have raised if the internet existed back then, back then trying to give money was actually hard to do, you had to speak to someone after waiting up to an hour for someone to answer the phone, and then you give them your banking details and after ten minutes of security questions etc they would say "sorry that didn't go through, we'll try again" by now your head is busted, you've been drinking and smoking all day while watching it on TV, and now U2 are on stage, the phone goes down, ill ring them later, internet>> a couple of clicks on your phone and they get £5 off you

This guy is still full of shit though because he was directly involved with Live-8 linked to 2005 G-8 Summit in Gleneagles. He gave essential cover as musician celebrity to crimes going on in other countries colonialized by The British Parliament. Basically he was used to pedal deception, only to complain about in the media that promises of the government were not fulfilled-only wash his hands. It would be idiotic to praise someone like this. Live aid was such a bs act.... Those countries are still in SAME CONDITION. SO basically that aid ONLY saved the day, thats all... Unless developed countries put some real effort to improve the conditions in those countries, nothing will ever change.... So bob geldof did some effort, I respect that, but as u ve seen for decades, it was a dud.

@@sarahtonen4873 Ethiopia didn't help themselves at all. Because people were dying, they chose to increase the amount of children per family in hopes that at least one will survive, hence more people, hence less food. Yes Live Aid should have done more but ultimately Ethiopia are killing themselves.
