I grew up watching Hannah. He was the most baddass rider ever! I had to get them lightning bolts on my helmet too when I was kid riding.

Nobody was better than him on a 125 for years. He and I are the same age, and we would go see the Wildman every time he came East. From a fans perspective, I always preferred the outdoor races. Unadilla, 338 etc.

I like the out Door races. They are actually racing on dirt most the time and going outrageous speeds. Supercross is a bunch of bikes bouncing in the air. I get it, you can watch the whole race, but i want speed. Its more of a race.

I remember hearing about someone beating marty smith and thought, "he must be fast af." ...Then i saw him at saddleback and thought he rode like magoo, but with a little more control.

Yea but the European tracks were faster, more difficult. It's "apples & oranges", but battling it out in supercross resembles Nascar in the way everybody is cramped together at the front. On the Euro G.P. tracks (old style) a dominant rider (like: Hallman, Robert, Mikkola, Aberg, Kring, DeCoster) would "stretch out" and leave the competition well behind. To better assert and thus visually display their dominance. It was amazing to witness, a spectacle, and it was the tracks in combination with the bikes of the day. The tracks were designed around the bikes. That aside I appreciate Hannah's take on it. And it's an educated take (understatement) Yea he's a giant, a motocross immortal. I always enjoyed his battles with DeCoster (late in Rogers career, but totally awesome) Both being supreme entertainers. Hannah is the classic unyielding competitor, he's earned his place as one of the Greatest names of all time in the sport. AND I like his frankness/honesty in his interviews!

It cost money to go racing that definstlty helps...bob was a big influence i was lucky my dad had a photography business an a goid friend was the art director for MXA so i got free subscrition when my dad put his stuff in a u haul truck an his car...an drive dave to cali...so i got plenty of pictires of Bob racing when i went to my first race...i had a nice honda bell 2 helmut an i custom made some chrome lightning bolts to let everyone no i was not at the races to play...it was kinda funny because they cant tell how old you are an i would watch them look at the lightning bolts an iy would make them nervous....i would just smile at that time i didnt know anything about bob...when i started getting holeshots all the time it became more fun...an got better bikes too...outdoor nationals need to leaves some trees standing at put up some tents for the spectators going to a natiinal to watch is like dtiving a thousand miles to go camping an getting there an forgetting to bring a tent...not very friendly hot no shade not muxh conveince no shade is really shitty thing its already hot as heck who told u to cut down all the trees that make oxygen we breath an make the conditions tolerable...oh yeah the promoter isnt racing why do they care.....

@JaxRSmart Do you know bob personally to say that ? Yeah, most people think he's always been cocky. Growing up in MX (1970s), he was never my hero even though he was dominating at the time; just didn't care for his attitude. My heros were Marty Smith and DeCoster. I met Decoster once and BS's for a little bit, very nice guy. Can't take anything away from Bob Hannah, he was one of the best.
