Too many people are pumped to talk about which music inspired a certain type of music. "If you didnt' have the beatles, you would never have x" or "if you didn't have zepplin, you would never have had y" This type of thinking always confused me, because these bands found a way to be who they were and create a sound that is almost completely idependent of the previous sound. Bob Marleys music is a direct contradiction to what heavy metal music is, and I'd be surprised if you could draw a single comparison to legitimate heavy metal. I don't understand the need to validate one thing with another. Appreciate originality.
@jackcole1120
Жыл бұрын
@@franktothemax your looking at it in a comparitive and seperative point of view. I think what he was trying to portray is the reality that despite two things being so completely different and seemingly alien to one another like you pointed out there is still a way in which everything is connected and coexisting with one another. So for example yes the two genres share zero similarities in terms of style and composition and sound and "vibe", but the music of Marley and his "genre" a long with its heavy influence from marijuana (figuratively and literally) brought forth a drastic change in society and it's acceptance as a whole of the smoker lifestyle which included all artists in society from all different walks of life and genres of music. So without the musical, social, artistic influence from Marley's music/genre coming along the domino affect of the notable "stoner" heavy metal musicians constructing that new Heavy Metal genre at the time it wouldn't be what it is today.

Go cry bout who he's had sex with and all his different kids to someone who cares, if you had half a brain you would know.i was referring to his music not his whole damn life story and what he's done in between.

What a great interview, Bob Marley saw something humanity did not, and that showed in his deep songs. One of the few musicians I can not dislike a single music.

One of the most centred, brilliant minds that has ever lived. The very essence of a free spirit. His thick Jamaican patois is also rather calming to listen to. A passionate and beautiful human being. A very rare type of person.

As someone who grew up as a working musician; reggae is some of the most universally loved music for almost anywhere anytime. The reason Bob made the waves he did in the industry is because of his love and dedication to our Lord Jesus Christ! The reason no one has replicated his greatness in the modern age is the evil within the music industry itself, and their hatred of the truth. His music will live on forever, because it comes from a humble place of love, gratitude, and truth. Even if you look at the roots of his music career you will clearly see he is a gospel musician who pioneered a new sound.

i was born in the year 2000 im currently 23 and as i sit here watching footage of bob marley i come to realise that unless by an act of god , a miracle were he were to be resurrected again from the dead i will never get a chance to see him perform live or just to even meet him shake his hand and get a photo or an autograph. and so this really upsets me and makes me envy all those who came before my time that got a chance to see him perform live. but as a gen z , i will not let bob marleys music & and teachings of life die.
