I miss you Bob Ross, you are my favorite art teacher! Art school sucked the joy out of the process of painting. I'm watching these in order and, with each one, I come closer to the love of painting I had as a child. I paint with watercolor but the relationship with the work transcends the media. For some reason, when he first started painting the happy mountains, it made me think of the book Stargirl. I don't know how or why that popped into my head, but it just feels like he should be painting some beautiful desert at sunset. Maybe I'll have to try that myself, who knows? But if Bob was still alive, I would love to just sit down with him and have a nice conversation. Maybe make some tea. Just talk about books and painting and life... I feel like he would be so accepting and helpful with everything. I think he would be the type of person that would help solve a problem without making you feel bad for having problems. You know what? I never had a role model until now. My goal in life is to be like Bob Ross.

I learned to write well by watching these episodes on pbs. Mr. Ross would explain what he was doing and apply the colors and technics with the different instruments, and develop a clear portrait. My colors are my word, my instruments my fingers, typewriter, keyboard, computer, etc. I always said: 'Words are the ink that a writer uses to paint a portrait.' This is were I learned it, from you Mr Ross. Thank you, you taught me what no English teacher could.
