One Christmas back in the early 70's, my mom and dad went shopping and bought this set for me. Then a week later they went again to finish up and they had forgotten that they already got one for me and wound up buying a second set. So instead of returning one to get their money back, they gave me both sets because they knew how much I loved toy soldiers. It was a great Christmas that year!

Yes! The background music is from the film The Bridge at Remagen! I had a girder and panel set, built the largest bridge that I could, and reenacted the battle with all my Louis Marx guys!

I loved those sets and used to get one of the Marx sets every year for Christmas when I was in grade school WAY back in the '50's, including a WWII set, American Civil War Set, a Zorro set and an American Revolution set, which I believe were all Marx. Those flat plastic green trees came with every set with plastic cannons that shot tiny plastic projectiles. Just great stuff!! Wish I still had 'em! Thanks for the memories Bob!!

Hi Bob, I wonder if you remember those figures that used to come with any packet of Corn Flakes ? They were always cowboys and Indians and the one everybody hoped to find was the figure of the cowboy, with the lasoo, on a bucking horse. The corn flakes packet had cut-outs of saloons stables and barns etc. Iwonder what became of them. Anyway, I'm talking about my childhood in Victoria, Australia. Btw, you sure have a lot to paint there 😃

The extra gun crews I ordered from Armies in Plastic came in today 1/21/21 and they looked really cool. The spring loaded cannons actually still work.
