You are correct. He is reflecting on how we all start out feeling strong and sure of who we are and what we want. As the songs moves you can feel that as we age we realize that we are not that person, that we have changed not only physically but emotionally. We turn into people that have a better understanding of not only life but in ourselves. Thank you for revisiting Bob.

I could see it moving you, Jay, the way it moved me the first time I heard this song and every time since. Even after all these years, if a Seger song comes on the radio while I'm driving and I arrive at my destination, I will park and listen until it's finished before I get out of the car. I just have to.

I am a lover of well-written songs regardless of Genre. Country, Hip Hop, Rock, Hardcore punk, Metal...it doesn't matter. The way I see it, a truly perfectly crafted song will touch on something familiar to you...and Bob Seger is a master of his craft. Like A Rock, Night Moves, We've Got Tonight, (just to name a precious few) all touch on something familiar to me. Something I have experienced and can point to in my life. There are several reactors that I watch regularly and you and Jamel are, by far, my favorites. It does my heart good to see the thoughtfulness and genuine enthusiasm that you display whenever you listen to Bob Seger and it makes me happy to know that his music is reaching a new generation and a new demographic. Thank you.

According to the album's liner notes, the lead guitar is played by Rick Vito. Other musicians on this song include Dawayne Bailey (acoustic guitar), Chris Campbell (bass), Russ Kunkel (drums), Craig Frost (organ) and Bill Payne (piano), with backing vocals by Douglas Kibble, Izora Armstead and Martha Wash (the latter two were a duo called "The Weather Girls"). I highly recommend another song by Bob Seger called "The Fire Inside", that's one of his most underrated songs.

This song is definitely one of his most known. In fact, in the '90s, Chevy used it for a commercial and it probably made Bob just a LIIIIIITTLE bit rich. Huge hit. The Chevy commercial. Enjoy. That's Bob talking too, I think: kzitem.info/news/bejne/sqmPyWWMs3RiZaA Bob was so well known. Did you ever see Eddie Murphy's Beverly Hills Cop? I think it's BHC 3 that uses Bob's "Shakedown," which was a monster hit too. He was really well-known! He was huge. Maybe doesn't seem that way now, but yeah, the '70s to 90s, he had a hit every few years. You seen the Tom Cruise movie Risky Business where he dances to Bob in his underwear? It's now an iconic scene that has been recreated in so many other shows and movies, but it's ALL about Bob. I remember we put Old Time Rock n Roll on at my brother's wedding and NO ONE stayed sitting. Even old ladies with walkers were up dancing. Risky Business scene with Tom Cruise: kzitem.info/news/bejne/mZuip51jcHlhgno (I know the links are just for your enjoyment. Or maybe you put Tom on the other channel. Ha.)
