It's a pleasure to see Bobby Womack in concert. He had an audience full of zombies in this clip. They apparently didn't realize they are in the presence of a legend.

I have this DVD - it was a pickup band - they didn't know any of his work (how???) - the real point though is he hardly needs them as this track proves. Acoustic guitar is all Bobby needs. A true writer, musician and singer who earned this right by working his chops on the road with Ray Charles, Otis Reading, Sam Cooke and 30 yrs in a fickle record industry who tried to write him off more than once. Legend.

veeseee128 No actually it wasn't - where is his brother Fernando who plays sax? Or his drummer? The bass player doesn't know what day it is let alone what song they are going to play. Real bands on tour re-hearse for weeks before a gig - this is not Bobby's touring band. The only one here from that is his sidekick vocalist Altrinna Grayson and it shows - they are 2 steps behind him the whole show.

He almost lost all of his soulful voice after the 90s. He still had some of it here. I would say this concert he lost about 70% of his soulful chops. At least we got to hear 30%. When he did bravest Man in the Universe. He practically lost his voice. We just heard a tired old man who didn't have any power in his voice anymore. But people still listened because he was bobby Womack.
@Spartanm333
9 жыл бұрын
...and that's wrong because ??? On Bravest Man In The Universe he had cancer and diabetes and knew he was dying so you might want to cut him a break. The album and tour was one last swing of the bat for a genuine artiste which is painful to listen to (for me) but I appreciate what Damon Albarn was trying to do. The whole point about Bobby Womack is that he wrote and sang from his heart, unfiltered, good and bad and that is a rare thing with a truth of its own. Which is why he has had such an influence on music and other artistes who can see a fraud a mile away. This is a world away (in feeling and reality) from the manufactured MUZAK crap that is mainstreaming today. Which is why so many of us still buy this 'old school' and the ass has fallen out of the top 100. And yes, this is why I still prefer him at 30% to the drivel served up in the name of music today.
