It's kind of a different thing, but if you want to talk about "legendary stories in sports contract history," my favorite has to be the one that happened in the process of the NBA's merger with the competing ABA in 1976. The NBA accepted 4 ABA teams into their league, but one of the teams that didn't make the cut was St. Louis. The St. Louis owners struck a deal with the NBA where they got 1/7 of the TV revenue from those 4 teams IN PERPETUITY. The NBA bought them out in 2014, but suffice it to say, those St. Louis owners made a LOT of money over the years!

Bonilla also has a second deferred-contract plan with the Mets and Baltimore Orioles that was initiated in 2004 and pays him $500,000 a year for 25 years.....he got 2 teams to commit to deferred payments......he is The King of Deferred Payments

Yeah and Puerto Rico is a U.S. territory that belonged to Spain before hence Spanish. Spain lost it in the Spanish-American war of 1898, when United States took Cuba, Puerto Rico, Philippines & Guam from the fallen Spanish empire.

Deferred payments are very common. This is just a lame excuse to flip crap at the Mets. Snore.
