How do you turn money into lots more money? Well, if we follow the Bobby Bonilla model, you simply beef with your employer. Bonilla was a thorn in the NY Mets side, twice, yet ended up turning the $5.9 million left on his '99 contract into just about $30 million.
Sure, there were some unpleasant moments, like when he had to wear earplugs so he couldn't hear the home crowd booing, or the time the media noticed he was wearing earplugs to block out the boos. And sure, it was kinda a unique case in which famous liar-cheater Bernie Madoff made Mets ownership confident they could handle lots of interest on a deferred contract. But hey, you can't argue with results!
