I must make a comment here, my boyfriend was a DJ and he played every music in sight from Donna Summer to Michael Mc Donald, but I always loved this song by Mr Cadwell and in 1979 I heard it at a party and I never forgot it. Then I never heard it until this year August of 2023 when You tube posted it because Mr Cadwell had died in March. I am saying 44 years ago until now and it was emotional in 1979 and it's emotional in 2023. Be Blessed.

This shows a lot of thought and a lot seasoning. He performs like breathing-and the ascending lines at the end really heighten the power of the emotion and intensity--these lines are absent in early recordings--and have a New York voices kind of harmonic movement and chord voicing. Cool at the beginning---cookin' at the end. Shake and bake!!! Awesome.

I'm a huge Cat in the hat fan. It rough listening to BC nowadays. I know he is way up in years and, the heavy smoking didn't help anything. The song has been rearranged to fit his voice for awhile now. Still a fan just hate seeing legit vocalist fade away. Mick Hucknall(Simply Red) is in his mid 60's and to me, sounds 95% the same.

He has incredible stage presence, doesn't he? He's the type that makes every in the room feel that they've known him personally for years. A great voice that one never gets tired of. I like the way his backing vocalist (Jeannie?), moves. She's enjoying what she does. This particular song will probably always be the Bobby Caldwell composition we remember most.
