most beautiful song ever !! I didn't grew up in a ghetto, had even a happy childhood in a loving family, but this song transcends the social class boundaries, and really makes you feel what pain, despair or rage, but also love and hope means.. B.Womack had the most powerful (in emotional way i mean) voice ever..

I'm nearly 72 and obviously one can't condone the "Sam Cook/Sam Cook's Wife Situation" ; However I am just here not to Judge, but to Enjoy this incredible Musician. The Writing; The Guitar Playing and the Voice ; Oh That Voice.. That Totally Unique Voice.There are many great singers that have come along and people say "he or she sounds like;; (fill in the name of a Superstar Current or Passed on) yet, you never hear any one say ...He kinda sounds like Bobby Womack. It has never happened because there is no voice like BOBBY WOMACK'S VOICE. Bobby always wears his heart on his sleeve.. How else can you interpret; "I Wish He Didn't Trust Me So Much" even when his songs are recorded by others. I just cant get enough of Chaka Khan & Rufus' version of "Stop on By" RIP Bobby..
@Eldwin-cm7et

@@horacerowe6104 Horace, thanks. I'd like to touch on the "Sam Cook/Sam Cook's Wife Situation," even from the Bibles perspective Womack didn't sin. She was single when Womack proposed. Yeah it looked scandalous, but she was an attractive lady though older than Cooke. No doubt after running with Cooke as a teenager he saw first hand, Cooke, pullin' some of the loveliest women he's ever seen! Though married! Perhaps Womack figured 'Man, I'm gonna jump on this before someone else does.' She was that fine. Besides, this was some, 'Hollywood/Music Industry/Sneaky' drama going on. Because at the inquest Cooke's father ask the woman accused of shooting Cooke, "Lady, why did you shoot my son?" She exclaimed, "I didn't." Also noteworthy, while the newlyweds were on the East Coast, Cooke's brothers caught up with Womack and beat him so bad til he was unconscious. I guess they felt like what Womack did was wrong too. But he didn't break the law. A little more on Womack. He's in my top 5, men's G.O.A.T. singers along with Luther, Teddy, Marvin, and Ron Isley.

Interesting song. Can't blame him for playing off popular themes of the time, it has something of the Shaft or Superfly elements to it. Still you can hear that underlying funk guitar that is the basis for all the instruments. He was supreme at that.
