I first saw this video and thought....I know this dude! And then I realized I buy stuff from you guys all the time, which is why you look familiar....I have bought many grain mills. In fact I just bought the MM3 and I have had nothing but issues with it. I stumbled upon this video because my ADHD brain ordered the SSTECH Grain Mill, and then decided to look up reviews on it. That said, the biggest downside of the MM3 is that there are no markings on it when you want/ need to change a setting. And as a home brewer, I don't have that kind of time to experiment to dial in the settings. That's a big deal for me. That said, I appreciate your time and effort making this video. I always used a handheld drill with the MM3, so the noise was incidental for me. I am sure the SSBT will be annoying, but that's par for the course with brewing.

For the noise factor alone, I definitely like the monster mill better. Ss would be a decent backup. My opinion would be to send it back and get another monster mill for backup. Thanks for all your help with questions and ordering.🍻

Wow definitely expected a better product from SSbrewtech. That sound would instantly make brew day annoying AF! Thanks for posting and saving folks from a bad experience.

Can you do a tutorial on owning a homebrew shop, like business side and what you've learned over the years? Maybe tips? Thanks!

9:04 good points, a better design would have been a little spring loaded pin that could be pulled and dropped (which you could also jiggle to "find" the hole). As a workaround to the lining up, I'd just put a piece of painters tape, get a sharpie and re-scale it based on the top, and make new gradations. Hell, I have to do this for a lot of buckets that don't measure true to volumes. That's precision manufacturing these days...

Thanks for the review Bobby. Other reviews have pointed out that after adjustment, the gap isn't the same (parallel) across the rollers. I'm curious if that was a flaw Ss has since corrected or does yours have the same issue?
@BobbyFromNJ

I haven't even gotten to testing that out yet. I saw that guy's video on the non parallel gap before buying and it really just comes down to if the crush is good. With assurance from SS that they would take a return if I wasn't happy, I rolled the dice.

I have always liked 160 RPM as a sweet spot! Holy Cow Batman! The SS Brew-tech is a bad loud. Maybe try some soundproofing around it but don’t stop the motor air flow!

5.5 pounds per minute? pretty slow for the price point.

I was just looking for current state of these "high-end homebrew" mills and was disappointed with the SS. It currently retails around 1000€ in Europe. I would suggest that you check the MattMill Braumeister edition and give your opinion of it.

Can you give us the specs for the L handle asjustable bolts for mm2 pro please. There are few variation types, which one are you using or modified it to. Thanks

Have you checked the roller alignment? A friend bought one and it was well out of reported 10% variance. He got a replacement that was better but also outside the 10% max variance reported. It sounds like you need the Blichmann Mill

I didnt even get to the alignment check. The negatives I highlighted made me send it back and I got the MM3 pro and connected a faster big surplus motor I had sitting around.

I always thought that ss brewtech have stuff that are under engineered. I´ve got a mm3 mill with all american motor with 180 RPM that I wouldn´t sell for anything

These are all new complaints to me. The big one I've heard from a couple of sites is the the gap is in even from the edge to the center of the rollers.

Considering what the SS costs, and the God awful racket, the MM2 Pro w/ a motor driven pulley seems like the hands down winner. You could trick at a MM3 Pro with a more powerful motor for less than the $$$$ spent on the SS.....if it’s not broken, don’t fix it!

Definitely a love/hate relationship with SSbrewtech. Aside from this mill not really living up the hype, they literally copied my weldless TC bulkhead design.

Sooo disappointing. I have two SS fermenters and other equipment, and have been seriously looking at their grain mill. It's obviously just under and poorly engineered. While I won't use it any where close to your shop use, for about $900.00 I don't see the value, and that noise. Oh, the noise. As my friends in East Rutherford say... "Fuget about it..." Thanks for saving me some money.
