Wen life became too difficult for music I stopped listening. After a while I could listen to Bach piano and duets. That was enough if not too much. Now 50 years after I began colleting LP's I've rather suddenly discovered Brilliant recordings and other splendid presenttions of Bocherini, Handel, Telamon and others. My life at 85 has unexpectedly blossomed with new joy. The music that once seemed merely charming bursts with life. So much more is there now to listen to. It is a whole new adventure. I jump from one BRilliant Recording to another. Thanks.

Luigi Boccherini was one of the greatest cellists of all time. The vivacity, the freshness of the melodic invention, justified Haydn’s admiration and ended up earning him great popularity. The beauty of the true masterpieces that are his cello concertos touch us deeply , transmitting us sublime moments of inimitable music that only a genius like Boccherini could have composed. The interpretation of the soloists is magnificent. The orchestra and direction are superb. Thanks for this remarkable recording that gives us unforgettable moments of pleasure.

@@Patriciateresat You've been drinking or smoking (or listening to) something toxic if you think so. The music itself, & we, who appreciate it, bely your depressive world view. There will always be political/commercial interests to make us feel guilty about something, no matter what - easier to manipulate us thereby. Studied with actual science, by the way, the planet is doing fine, responding to its orbit around the sun, eruptive radiation & all, traversing its climatic ranges - all at an evolutionary level far beyond human influence. Manipulative humans are indeed a scourge, when passive/depressive compliance by majorities don't stand up to them. Most artists, musicians, writers, et al. do tend to stand up, to outright totalitarian rule - then, alas, sometimes in turn manipulated by the soft dictatorship of "caring" bureaucracies, not so? Why? What is even the point? Are you Boccherini’s descendant or something? Are you just trying to piss off the snake that is radical leftism? I love Boccherini’s music as well. He’s actually one of my favourite composers (after Vivaldi of course). Since you’re not speaking European Spanish or Italian right now I think it’d be fairly easy for me to assume that you do not belong to an 18th century Spaniard/Italian family so you don’t really belong to that culture. So what are you proud of? I’m assuming that you’re a white American. If you were his DIRECT traceable descendant then I could understand that but I don’t think you are. So that only really leaves the option that you posted this comment to piss off liberals. I’m not saying this to piss you off or anything I’m just tired of this constant political game that America is playing right now. It’s stupid, and both sides should be ashamed

Also there are plenty of examples of beautiful art that isn’t European. Ever heard of The Butterfly Lover’s Concerto? It’s one of the greatest concerti of all time! In terms of composing themes, for me, Boccherini is the supreme master of all time, even exceeding Mozart. We see it here in these concerti, but I know his guitar quintets extremely well. Michael Grieve - ‘Cause it’s damn hard! Boccherini was an astounding cellist (used to play top-level violin sonatas on the cello AT PITCH!) and he wrote technically demanding cello parts. If you can play what Boccherini wrote for the cello, there’s little else you cannot play...

Dear Brilliant Classics I' m just discovering your site. What a delight!!! Once upon a time (probably ten years ago) here in Montreal we had a radio station with 24/7 classical music (my classical one : before mid-nineteenth century music). The station was almost in every room in my house, in my car in my office, everywhere. But unfortunately one day it was sold and it seems that the new owner was not a classical music aficionado. And now you are coming in my iPad, my iPhone my iMac to fill this void. Many many thanks.

Boccherini è semplicemente un GENIO... La sua musica è sempre originale, ora malinconica, ora ritmica e briosa, ma mai banale. Il suo contributo al violoncello, poi, è assolutamente eccezionale

Delightful performances, beautifully played! After 14 concerti, I still have an appetite for more. Brilliant Classics is able to find excellent musicians everywhere. Quite a change from the situation when a few record labels had their "house' ensembles play everything. I just hope that this arrangement is supporting the musicians enough to keep all these gardens blossoming.

No, señor mío.

Great works, wonderful recording. To me classical music is not music to do anything else but to listen to. I can only feel the benefits of the music when I just sit and listen. Going back to the recording, it is on the Brilliant Classics label, so it is almost a certain bargain for another of their complete sets. To whoever uploaded here, Thanks. Gracias, Merci. Danken.Grazie.

It's the opposite for me. Classical music allows me to think, work, read and be productive. Pop music is so jarring and intrusive, it disables me from doing anything else...
