This adds a lot more context to why Kita literally glowing brightly is a running gag throughout the series. Thx for the quick informative video.

In the official translation for the game キミガシネ, 陰キャ is often translated as "loner." While "pessimistic introvert" _is_ likely a more accurate translation, I do find that "loner" fits into speech and dialogue translations more naturally.

Sure, it happens when it sounds more natural in English and doesn’t change the meaning too much from the original, it works 👍

I think I'm mostly an Inkya, but more similar to Ryo than to Hitori. Like Ryo, I don't exactly have many friends and prefer spending time alone. In fact, the number of people I consider "friends", who aren't family, colleagues or people I only know online, can be counted on one hand with a few fingers to spare. That said, I'm generally able to function in a normal society, at least well enough to have a job. Although, like Hitori, I'm also not good at taking the initiative to start a conversation or ask for help if I need it, and usually expect the worst possible outcome, since that's how things just went for me throughout all my school years, so it's kinda just made me a pessimistic, but functional introvert as a result.

Thank you so much for sharing that! We are very alike. I enjoy spending time alone, but I do function fine at work. You don’t need a lot of friends. Just need a handful. Thanks again for taking the time to comment. You are awesome 😊

Good video and overall content. I think this "lost in translation" type of video could help this channel to grow more, specially with the hype around bocchi rn. Keep up the good work. Subbed

When I was in school, we called a dark introvert a "corner kid" because of their tendency to sit along a wall or hang out in the corner.

Being an introverted guitarist myself, I can tell you that there are no benefits of being an extrovert. In fact, it increases the anxiety and makes you want to disappear for good

I feel like it’s less of a scale and more of an alignment chart: horizontal is introvert/extrovert, and vertical is positive/negative. Nijika is positive and extroverted, a true “yohkya”, a social butterfly, so to say. She’s happy and outgoing, and her positivity is contagious. Bocchi is the stereotypical typical introvert, constantly belittling herself, secluding herself simply because she is convinced that she doesn’t deserve to have a social life. Kita is an extrovert, she’s outgoing but she has no self-confidence. She beats herself up the same way bocchi does, but she comes off as positive from bocchi’s perspective. She is a self-hating extrovert, which is something bocchi doesn’t quite understand. Ryo is the polar opposite of Kita, she is an introvert, but she isn’t lonely, she is a loner by choice. She’s content with her lifestyle, which makes her hard to approach even for bocchi. She gets along well enough with others, but she still keeps her distance, sometimes coming off as cold and emotionless.

@TaenyanJpAcademy

Indeed. If they are used in context, it’s not too hard to figure out. But if there’s no context or background information, it’s hard to know what it is. Japanese 🇯🇵 is contextual and meanings depend on what’s been already mentioned or other factors (like the environment, location, situation etc…) 😊

According to personality test I took at psychiatrist in the past, I am more introverted. Nowadays, I am placed right smack down in the middle between introvert and extrovert, aka ambivert. I prefer thinking by myself but my hobbies requires great deal of showmanship to succeed. So yeah, right in the middle with small leaning on introversion.
