I got pregnant when I was in the army and I found it much easier to get back into shape after having my daughter since I continued to work out when I was pregnant. When I was pregnant the doctor told me I could continue to do what I was doing but not to try adding exercises that I had not done before. That was over 14 years ago though so I’m sure things have changed.

I definitely agree that continuing to strength train throughout pregnancy has really made a big difference in me feeling great and not dealing with so much pain and discomfort that I've seen family, friends, and clients have during pregnancy. Heading into my 3rd trimester this week and I do notice I'm a lil more tired but otherwise no complaints!

Meg, I enjoy watching your videos. During my pregnancy with my daughter, I lifted and also did CrossFit. It’s important for everyone to know that it’s YOUR BODY and only YOU, KNOW your body. So if something feels uncomfortable, STOP and MODIFY the movement. Stay Strong Ladies ❤️Congratulations to you and your partner.

I taught group fitness classes and was a personal trainer for 15 years (yes, I’m old🤣). I taught high intensity kickboxing classes along with strength and cycling classes up to 38 weeks for my first born...about 32 weeks for the second. I had large, very healthy babies!

This was so helpful! I’m very early in my pregnancy and have been weightlifting prior to getting pregnant and have had all of these people in my life including my OB tell me to not lift more than 20 lbs. I don’t have any complications and have been lifting for two years so I was very surprised to hear that. It’s so encouraging to hear this side of the topic because I honestly need to lift for my mental health lol

I was a month away from my first powerlifting meet when I got pregnant this time! I get a lot of comments from older people at the gym that I'm an inspiration and how much the times have changed. They wish they knew what we know now.

I had a miscarriage 4 months ago and my OBGYN told me not to lift more than 20lb if I get pregnant again. When I found out I was pregnant I cut my weight in half and I don't think I did anything wrong. My sister keep insisting it was me working out that caused the miscarriage. I haved watched so many videos about workingout on first trimester. I se the girl lifting more than I did. I just think it was not meant to be, even though I am a little concerned about getting pregnant again.

So the stroller is beautiful and I had one similar and hated it. I actually preferred the cheap umbrella stroller. It’s easier to pack, lighter, and can be pulled out of the trunk and snapped open with one hand. Which is all you’ll have most of the time, since your baby will be in your other arm. Lol

@5:45, supporting answer to @joydeeann - the ad I got immediately before this vid was for a popular swoosh company's maternity line of athletic gear. If logic and expertise don't sway the family, the normalization via a huge corporation trying to get athletes' money while pregnant just might! This ad suggests there's enough of a market, and athletic pregnancy is common enough that they're willing to be associated with it (and they found enough pregnant women to film!). Court of public opinion, yo!!

I think that the best way to convince people (including the ones you are close with) that exercise is safe during pregnancy is to just don't. People are not interested in facts, they just want to tell you what they think. They will not be convinced if you show them research. I just do my thing and only talk with my husband and doctor about it. Noone else needs to know.

Not pregnant and likely never will be (by choice) BUT I love learning about this. A lot of my pregnant friends looked at their pregnancies as opportunities to be totally supine the entire time and were under the impression that exercise is inherently dangerous during pregnancy. I love having the science explaining why that's not true!

Pack maybe 3 nursing bras just in case your milk comes in strong. I had a crazy amount and would soak through the nursing pads to the bra. Also look up “padsicles” you will want these to soothe down there after delivering or else it feels like fire when you have to use the bathroom. I miss the pregnant days I have 4 big kids now and let me tell you the baby stage flies by soooooooo quick 😩

Hi Meg! I've had four babies, with my youngest being 3 months old today! I will say, you may be overpacking here. You likely will not need the mesh undies and pads because they will provide all of that for you. You definitely will not need your Hakaa as your milk will not come in until a few days after birth, which means, assuming you have an uncomplicated vaginal birth, you will be home by then. Is the labor and delivery gown for your own comfort? The ones at the hospital were fine for me, but to each her own preference. You very likely won't need the pregnancy pillow, but maybe you and Dad might want to bring your sleeping pillows (make sure they're in a bright colored pillow case so no one confuses them for the hospital pillows!). I brought my nursing pillow (if you haven't gotten one yet, might I suggest the My Brest Friend pillow? I love mine!) but I didn't use it at the hospital. Unless you have a preferred brand, you might not even need the nipple butter. The hospital should have some for you. For baby outfits, be sure to bring a a few sizes. I'd bring Premie, a Newborn and a 0-3 month old sizes. I remember bringing one outfit for my first baby, a Newborn sized outfit, and my daughter was 6 lbs and 11oz. She was swimming in her going home outfit! To be honest, unless you have a brand preference or it makes you feel more comfortable, I would not bring anything the hospital already has for you. Everything you get is part of your bill for staying there. However, I think stuff like pain killer might be extra cost, so maybe talk to your OB or L&D at your hospital about whether you can bring your own pain killers if they charge extra for those. I remember I was training and running while pregnant with my last baby, and my mother was super concerned about it. I just told my mom that my OB told me it was okay, Lol I'm so happy to see you're having a baby! I love being a mom and I love seeing people become parents.

To those looking to buy the Doona and only the Doona… newborn babies need to lie flat. It’s so important for their breathing and their spinal and hip development.
