The perp ended up being handed over to federal courts, where he got a 220-month sentence in federal prison. With "prison reform," that means he'll possibly move into a "transition program" after about 187 months. In short, he's going in at 24 years-old and will probably get out when he is 40. Obviously, HPD did a great job of building a case the feds would take.

And just for all of those that don’t know most law-enforcement officers are trained to draw their weapon from a level three retention holster and get the first shot off and under a second and a half. It’s some thing that you practice over and over again just going through the training academy most officers probably fire 4 to 5000 rounds. It’s some thing that you just have to do repeatedly so it becomes muscle memory you don’t even have to think about it your body just does it. This kind of training is what saves officers lives and their fast reactions is what stopped the threat.

It was likely that this was a stop by the feds. They knew it would be high risk and that the guy was armed. So they get local cops to perform a 'routine' traffic stop and get the guy out of the vehicle and secured, before feds roll in and take them. There's a few videos of cops getting shot doing this. In one case, the feds were slow in their response, the suspect got away, while the cop died on the side of the road. What's worse is that the feds sometimes don't tell the local cops that the suspect is armed and dangerous, so they walk in completely unprepared.

Absolutely well done. Training paid off that time. Who ever trained them should be thanked. The pull time was impressive.

That dude only got 18 years for trying to kill a cop and distributing meth... Which means hell be out in 10 years with good behavior... WOW
