People need to ask why the engineering talent at Space X didn't get hired by Boeing, or should I say why aren't they working for Boeing. I guarantee Boeing has a better benefits package than Space X, so why aren't these people working for Boeing? I can say with confidence that you need to look at the money. When we designed and built the Saturn V and the Apollo CM, we did not have 1 tenth the engineering software available that we have today, slide rules ruled the day, no Catia, no Excel etc, yet the lack of engineering skill is very apparent in many industries.
