I have to go back to Ireland. I would love to see those guys. I spent all my time sneaking pictures of and marveling at the Book of Kells.

here after reading "Ghost Wall" by Sarah Moss. It's a short fictional story about a family from the 90s who, at the father's demands, begin to live as the Ancient Britons would have in the Iron Age. No spoilers, but the father has a super messed up interest in the bog bodies and the re-enactment of what the sacrifice ritual might have been. Definitely recommend reading! Also, thanks for the interesting and informative video.

Super interesting video. 2:45 Yes, they are the same, your old trusty wood juices. 4:12 That's exactly what someone partaking in human sacrifices would say...

I think iron age people could have known that bogs preserved bodies by accidently finding some while cutting peat. They might have found some unfortunate neolithic man or some animal and ran back to the village and said, "hey fellas, bogs are magic let's throw people in them."

Bogs and other water bodies were used for offerings of all types, and I think the preservation is just coincidental.

talk about the most important topic of human history, hunter gatherers and start of farming its completely a different way of mindset from hunter gatherer to farming/scientist etc I am trying by all ways to find meaning in this mess so it can be more "natural" for humans to become scientists and all of those disciplines we need to survive in the future but i dont know if i will become mad in the process hahahaha
