My brother pointed something out to me once: guitarists usually like to be front and centre in a band, but Queen doesn't do that. A lot of Queen's music is the bass, drums, and vocals, and Brian May would just sprinkle a little guitar here & there, only coming forward when he really needed to. How many bands can you think of that would have that dynamic?

I love the studio sections of this scene. They are all arguing and their stress is rising. Roger and Freddie nearly come to violence, but they all stop and forget themselves once John plays the riff. Roger is listening to the beat, but he doesn't start hearing the drums in his head until Freddie starts figuring out the melody. Roger's actor portrays it so well- he didn't want to give the song a chance, but as soon as the bass riff and vocals started to meld together, he couldn't help it. The music just started brewing in him. It pulled itself out of him until he was in harmony with the rest of the band. Those scenes really prove how Queen was able to survive and thrive despite their differences. It was the music that tied them all together. It was the music, and their love for it. They were all creators, each and every one of them.

Fun Fact: This scene never happened in real life. As much as I like Rami's performance, this is not Freddie Mercury, he would never disrespect Roger or his other band mates like this. He's down to earth, a good friend and band mate, he's not the douchebag as he was portrayed in this scene.

Yeah, Freddie was actually a very quiet, shy person off stage. Sure, he had his perfectionist prima donna moments, but I can't see him being the confrontational one ever. He was a sweet, caring guy by all accounts. "He wanted everything done by yesterday." But he was also incredibly generous.

It's always weird seeing Rami Malek as Freddie standing next to the other members of Queen and being noticeably shorter in scenes. Mercury was 5'10 and Malek is 5'7 so it definitely looks comical in this scene where Freddie is shorter than everybody in the room. Lmao.

In reality, Deacy is playing most of the instruments on this - Roger’s drums are looped, & it’s John on rhythm guitar - Brian always said John was the best rhythm guitarist in Queen.

Queen was so much different than other bands because you never knew what was coming next. Each album was different than the last and everyone in the band came up with things. Great band with the best front man ever. Freddie's performance at Live Aid was the best performance of that show since he was completely up for it and it showed up on that stage.

@@sid5136 queen is very original, not TOTALLY original. It's impossible to be totally original and all musicians recognize that all great art had its roots in other great art. It's disrespectful to the craft of music to say a band is totally original as you disrespect their influences and most bands love their influences enough to not appreciate that.
