Bohol is one of the most visited places in the Philippines. Thus, it is often very touristy and one may ask… is there anything exciting left to be explored with less people? Yes, there are many hidden gems! We have found some of the coolest waterfalls with only few or no tourists. They are all located in the southern part of Bohol. Two of them are basically next to each other: The first one is the Ingkumhan waterfall that is located in a small gorge. It takes about 10 minutes by walk to reach. The trail is very easy. Once having arrived at the Ingkumhan falls, you may enjoy pure serenity. You will be embedded into the jungle and many palm trees. The water is clean and fast flowing, thus the Ingkumhan falls are great to swim. Also consider jumping from the cliff (about 5 meters). The Ingkumhan falls remain up to today rather hidden gems and are primarily visited by local Filipinos from Bohol. About 10 minutes by scooter, you will arrive at a village near the Dimiao twin waterfalls. From there it takes about 15-20 minutes to hike. The last part is a steep stairs leading you down into the canyon. The Dimiao twin falls are quite taller than the Ingkumhan falls. It’s again just nice for swimming in here. You may even jump from the rocks or shower below the waterfall. The best time to visit the Ingkumhan waterfall would be after 2 pm, while the Dimiao twin falls are better to be seen during the morning. During these times, there will be actual sunlight that enhances the colors. Rolling on a scooter around Bohol is not only the most efficient way to get to the hidden gems of the island but also to explore the place in the most authentic way! Head to the Camugao falls that are in the Southwest of Bohol. The Camugao falls are about 1 hour from Panglao island. There will be a lot of sunlight, thus, make sure to bring good clothes including sunblock and a UV-proof t-shirt for swimming. It takes about 15 minutes from the parking lot to hike to the Camugao waterfall. Also consider having a fresh coconut (Buko) down there! These 3 waterfalls are perfect hidden gems up to today and definitely should be visited, if you intend to enjoy Bohol with less tourists.
