no if a snake is wagging its tail it means it is agitated and about to strike thus why when she wags her tail she is coiled up

Spicy! My male is a good lad, he only gets a bit spicy when I either spray or get ready to feed him! Short fuse but incredible snakes!

Idk if this helps but it helped my little guy. I used a little bit of warm water (not hot, but lukewarm) and unless I had to never sprayed gim directly. Or if I had to used a gentle spray and sprayed the area around him so he knew it was coming

Whats going on with her tale Kevin? Is she wagging it? BTW thanks for the ETBs the other day. Love them!
@ImNotInLoveItsJustAGameWeDo
Жыл бұрын
Yes she is "wagging" or twitching her tail to show her displeasure with being taken outside of her enclosure. When she would prefer to be sipping a pina colada and tanning under her basking lamp! I am not going to lie, I'd much rather be doing the same. Lol I don't know if that's a self defense mechanism or if she is caudal luring. I'm almost willing to put my money on the self defense technique. Shaking her tail on leaf litter may make her sound similar to a rattle snake thus encouraging others to believe she is dangerous and to leave her alone.

@@ImNotInLoveItsJustAGameWeDo it is a defense mechanism! a lot of snakes will actually wag or “rattle” their tails even without a rattle, snakes do some crazy stuff with their tails, some of them use their tails as a lure and wiggle it to look like a grub or worm!

Technically. She's rear fanged and mildly venomous like many colubrids. I'd say a bit more than the average in terms of toxicity but its not lethal

Boiga cyanea are a mildly venomous rear fanged colubrid. From what I read it sounds like the venom does not pose a serious risk to humans, a lot like Hognoses or False Water Cobras. Also there are some poisonous snakes. Keelback snakes are known to be poisonous and Hognoses might be.

@simpletoastvibes My wife and I were at Bushgardens in Tampa, FL. and I noticed that on an information card for an indigenous species of snake that it said "poisonous" in highlighted letters. I found a person in management and brought it to their attention that the info was incorrect on that snakes enclosure. She thanked me, and off we went. We returned not long after that day because we had annual passes, and to my surprise, the word "Poisonous" was replaced with "Venomous." My wife noticed it before me. All I could do was smile.
