My oupa is dood, sy huis hou wag, Ek lug die stof en lakens af, Sy radio lyk nou so vaal, Maar daai stuk hout dra n verhaal. Sê nee man dit gaan Spickerish. Hoe kan 'n man dan kla? Sê nee man dit gaan Spickerish. Hoe kan 'n man dan kla? Gerhard Virvier se stem word op n dag (net) vlou ??? en soos my Oupa gaan hy ook (weer). ??? n Rugby nasie sal hom onthou... Onthou jy vir Spickerish? Onthou nog ou Spickerish? As die Engelsman vra: Hoe gaan dit nou daar? Sê nee man dit gaan Spickerish. Hoe kan 'n man dan kla?

My Grandfather is dead, his house is waiting (empty). I lift the dust and sheets off, his radio looks sou dull but this piece of wood has a tale (story). It's Loftus 1970, so says the voice on the air. And Grandfather laughs and says his name: Gerhard Virvier, and his our Radioman (radio commentator). Do you remember Spickerish [was Gerhard Virvier's nickname]? Still remember old Spickerish?

Hope you read these in the right order and that the translations help (thought you'd like to read it in the original Afrikaans as well - my spelling is terrible though and I haven't used the accent signs)

My grandfather is dead His house is standing guard I lift the dust and sheets off His radio is looking quite bland but that piece of wood carries a real story It's Loftus 1970 So se die stem toe hoor die lug (can translate directly, but not sure of thepoetic meaning) So says the voice, so holds the air And Grandad laughs and says his name, Gerhard Veveer and he's our radio man do you remember Spickerish? Do you still remember spickerish? If the english man asks how is it going there?

@WarriorVDV It is a modified version of the Transvaal Republic's Vierkleur (four colour). Which is a vertical green stripe; symbolising youth and freedom, and the horizontal red, white and blue of the Dutch flag.

And over the radio they're talking about an unbeatable All Black team. He lays out the field and players: this is Frik and Sin and Mannetjies... .... who is leading the team? He scores the first points. The Springbok team has drive and daring. Our radio man is driving (cheering) them on and on. [back to the chorus]

If the Englishman asks: How's it going over there? Say: No man, it's going Spickerish (it's a saying here that things are going well). How can a person complain?
