I'm a big fan of Boker's traditional knives. They're great quality and I love the company history behind those knives.

I'm a big fan of the Boker Barlows. I have one in Bog Oak, serialized limited run of 500, and it is every bit as good as a GEC. It is a safe queen though, but I may have to get a Grenadill one to carry and use.

You’re right, there is the Gold Series. I have one. It’s desert ironwood, which is lovely, but it also has a satin blade with a gold plated blade badging. It’s as good as a GEC, but only £90. The one thing I don’t like is the shield. For my money, a Barlow should be stamped on the bolster (like GEC). Traditional Sheffield Barlows are a bit larger (see some on my videos),but good ones vary between £120-£220. Case ones vary way too much to stand too much comparison.

Slick Slicers I might need to grab the gold series knives. I’m very interested in them after handling this one. You’re totally right about Case, sad but true. Thanks for watching!

I own GEC knives and 2 Boker slip joint knives made in Germany Solingen. One is a 1906 Castle burg limited edition lock back it is perfect in fit and finish with 01 carbon steel blade. The other one is a Boker trapper tree brand classic 2 blade with C75 carbon steel blade , with dark red jigged bone handle. This trapper is excellent with no gaps super flush tight fit on the spine backspring and overall finish . the 2 blades are centered nice as they should be this trapper is as good as any GEC I own in fit and finish. These trappers sell for $64.00 to $104.00 depending on where you look and who sells them.

I love Boker. I really don't like GEC. I have 4 GECs, 1 is amazing, the other 3 have various issues. I got really tired of hunting them down and paying a premium. I wish they would expand their business and raise the prices so you could just shop for one when you want one and find it every time.

Why would you want then to raise their prices if their quality remains sub par? I mean 1 out of 3 is crap odds. Imagine paying more for those odds. Gec needs to put their money on quality only. I'd rather pay a little more on the second hand market for a more perfect knife then pay more for a higher production knife that still has flaws. I'd rather pay for a boker with flaws then pay more for a gec with flaws. Just my opinion.

I tried a Boker Tree Brand hawk bill and while I liked the knife in general the jigging on the bone looked a bit artificial and lacked the natural hand made look of a GEC, IMHO, still a very nice knife and considerably less expensive than even a Case. I just started buying some case knives and while I enjoy them and appreciate the quality on each and every one they didn't take sufficient time to totally buff out the bolsters. If you want to see some outrageous knives by Boker call their Colorado distribution and ask for a catalog, they have every Boker from every country in which they were produced. Their catalog is much like their presentation boxes, first class and then some.

I have that Böker barlow i got it for 60€, i prefer stockman and trapper patterns, but the böker is a great user and the 440c holds an better edge than case cv, i put a 1200 grit atoma edge on mine and it has good bite and shaves like a dream, one of the best value slippies i got, with Case it's a gamble both of my 54 pattern trappers should have been sold as factory seconds, crooked spey blade on the other and the second one has a scale that's badly fitted.
