+Chase nun First off, it's allowed. And yes, we are allowed to carry a locking folder if we can justify it. So for sports, work, hobbies etc we can. We carry non locking sub 3inch knives because we don't have to provide any reason for carrying such a knife. I know lots of friends that carry locking folders and have no issues because they are not idiots and don't attract the wrong attention. I carry a Spyderco UKPK every day and a small SAK on the keys. It is plenty for me. No bears, cougars or mutant alien invasions in the UK.

+Don Don That was from ten years ago ;). I think it's pretty safe to say that their recommendations were seen for the ridiculous nonsense that they were. We have some stupid and over-nannying laws when it comes to what we can carry on a day-to-day basis, thankfully that hasn't extended to what we can use in our kitchens just yet.

I've been carrying mine for sveral years now, mostly as a work knife. I love the steel, easy to resharpen, but holds an edge long enough, if you usually cut plastic, paper and such things. I love that it is so flat, but still is heavy duty. I dont mind the weight, as a working knife. It never folded accidentially on me, it is save, if you use your brains. I love the clip aswell and that you have so much knife protruding out of the pocket, since it is easier to access. I would NOT carry it as an EDC, since I do not need such a heavy duty construction. As an EDC, I carry a Spyderco UK PK. Lighter, better steel and better bladeshape for MY edc tasks. I live in Germany, our Laws do not prohibit to own locking one handed opening knives, but there are very harsh restrictions on where and when you are allowed to actually carry them. Thx for the review, greetings from Germany, flo

Hi from Nottingham, UK. Still here. My s30v Spyderco UKPK is my normal slipjoint carry, need to grab one of these at some point. 440C isn't high on my list either EXCEPT for when it's Boker, everything that I have had from them either in the Boker plus or even the Magnum line has had a decent heat treat on it. No problem sharpening and they have held an edge pretty well.

UK viewer here! I do hate being constrained to slipjoints (although I do carry lockers sometimes). However, I don't see why you wouldn't EDC that if you carry other slipjoints like the cadet or 99% of other SAK
@lorenzogiancristofaro9721
8 жыл бұрын
yeah i think slipjoints like the boker xs that have all features to prevent accidental lockup are completely fine for EDC, they are the closest thing to a locking blade and for everyday carry you are not going to baton a log and risk your fingers. btw is it actually that easy to carry illegal blades in the uk? i mean do cops search random people in the street to find weapons or they just don't care? it would be really bad if they catch you carrying one, especially in public places

+saj0r1 what are the laws? are they regional?
@saj0r1
8 жыл бұрын
+fulblaze4 ill paste our official laws below (removing uneeded parts) but know that our police can take issue with anything they consider a dangerous weapon and often confiscate without compensation things they deem inappropriate. It is illegal to: • carry a knife in public without good reason - unless it’s a knife with a folding blade 3 inches long (7.62 cm) or less, eg a Swiss Army knife • carry, buy or sell any type of banned knife • use any knife in a threatening way (even a legal knife, such as a Swiss Army knife) Lock knives (knives with blades that can be locked when unfolded) are not folding knives, and are illegal to carry in public without good reason. -The maximum penalty for an adult carrying a knife is 4 years in prison and a fine of £5,000. Banned knives • flick knives (also called ‘switchblades’ or ‘automatic knives’) - where the blade is hidden inside the handle and shoots out when a button is pressed • butterfly knives - where the blade is hidden inside a handle that splits in two around it, like wings; the handles swing around the blade to open or close it • disguised knives, eg where the blade is hidden inside a belt buckle or fake mobile phone • gravity knives • sword-sticks • samurai swords (with some exceptions, including antiques and swords made to traditional methods before 1954) • hand or foot-claws • push daggers • hollow kubotan (cylinder-shaped keychain) holding spikes • shuriken (also known as ‘death stars’ or ‘throwing stars’) • kusari-gama (sickle attached to a rope, cord or wire) • kyoketsu-shoge (hook-knife attached to a rope, cord or wire) • kusari (weight attached to a rope, cord or wire)

We're still watching Nutn, I don't give a shit about what the law says regarding carrying a knife here, I use the common sense approach, fixed blade Mora work knife and a Leatherman Charge TTI, use them everyday, the Mora is a surprisingly good EDC when carried in my Snickers work trouser side pocket, the amount of people who are shocked that I'm carrying it and then ask to borrow it to open something, does my head in, numb skulls.

Sub 3" non locking folders are the only blades that can be legally EDC'd in the UK... And I still wouldn't use one. A non-locking blade presents a greater risk of being cut accidentally than a locking blade, and that's exactly why I never carry one. All of my EDC blades are lockers, and I've never had any trouble with the law, hell, I've even used one in a police station! The guy behind the counter gave me an odd look but nothing was said :D.
