I have quite a few like this on the go right now - the frustration is having to wait so long to get them together :)

Always pleased to watch such long period of time packed in few minutes, thank you for the video. Not sure what I would do here, probably airlayering, but those roots on the tree are quite interesting and unusual too, good luck in any case!

I think I’d go for cutting around the bark , putting a pot around the trunk with soil and hopefully get some good roots higher up and get a nice chubby tree.

That may be the eventual plan but I need to look at those roots next year and see what can be done :)

Interesting and challenging tree for sure. Upper structure has progressed nicely. I agree with Kennet - the roots (especially the upper one) in contributing to the inverse taper. Once they are gone, shari continuation on the lower trunk may cause the wood to swell as it calluses. Maybe you'll get a branch develop where the large root comes off - this sacrifice branch could also help thicken any trunk below. Definitely love seeing future work.

That sounds like a great suggestion from yourself and Kennet. Plans for next year :)

Do the peterchan trick and cover up the bottom portion of the trunk and see what you think of how it looks

Lesser of two leaders is a big worry Xav ha ha, prune within an inch of its life, great to have a year of progression mate,I think you are right it could make a good tree given time. All the best my friend.

It all depends on that root structure which I will look at next Spring :)

It is a good saw there, 2 seconds, done 🤣 . Why are you shortening video, we want to see your muscle. Thank you for time investment in this type of tree progression video, I know that editing of this type is very time consuming, but there are no much videos like this in youtube bonsai community. 👍🏻

It has taken a couple of years to build up enough footage alongside my usual videos. I have a few more like this in the schedule.
