Their level of care and attention to detail and craftsmanship is awe inspiring. I really dig their whole vibe, life is happening and they'll get to tooling around the shed when they can. The thing about the wait for any updates is that when a proper episode does appear you just know it's going to be very special and the time will fly past as you watch it. Small updates like this will keep most people happy, even if it's just a 2 minute thing! I'm not that bothered about the long wait though as long as progress is being made, I've done enough projects of various types over my life to know that nothing EVER happens like some of the other KZitem channels where they can dedicate whole weeks to knocking out a full build in one hit. Oh and anyone who does a project to a reasonable standard knows that the last 10% takes 80% of the time, every time!
@daniel_charms

If you go and watch the vids that BOM's friends at Retropower put out every week it becomes pretty clear that custom builds like these just take a lot of time in general, even if you have a large team working on cars 40 hours a week. Custom body modifications take tons of time, custom brackets are inescapable and take hours upon hours to make and so on. And if you think that the car is basically done once it's out of the paint shop then you couldn't be more wrong because it's quite amazing how much time the final fiddly bits can take up.

This feels like the "true" way Project Binky was always going to conclude - a labour this intensive, and over this much time, was never going to be a simple thing to wrap up. It had to be perfect, that was clear from Ep 1, and so, as with all things in life, chasing the fine details was going to be a long process and the "end" was never going to be a simple thing to achieve. I've loved the transparency you've offered along the whole way - showing the 8 hour bracket build did a lot to show the audience your meticulous process, and just how much time goes into every episode. I think you've already done a good job of weeding out the impatient members of your audience 😂, so you can rest assured that we will be happy to wait until you're both fully satisfied with the finished product

The ‘end of the beginning’ is a lot different to the ‘beginning of the end’. Great to get glimpses of progress and while I’d love to hoover up huge chunks of content, it’s just not how progress is made, especially if ‘Le Penseur’ (yes, got the comparison, but thankfully Nik was in his Onsie) decides he needs to learn, develop and master a completely new field of automotive engineering; for gauges. I mean, wow! I’m thinking about the electrons of glow-worms v solid state, too, but I’m still battling the tin worm. Ah, to revel in the applause of the home straight but a distant dream! As a former electronics engineer in manufacturing industry (remember when we had one of those?) I think these days there is very little point learning how to make your own PCBs, and especially in a novel manner. When Chinese manufacturers can give you a top quality product for peanuts and no significant turnaround time, it's the only sensible choice. Obviously, sensible isn't the watchword on this project, so I will sit back in frustration and watch you waste your time, and likely end up with a poorer quality PCB (no soldermask, no annotation I expect). I'm not one of those "why bother, when you can buy it" types, I applaud the creativity that Binky amply demonstrates, but there are (or should be) limits. PCB manufacture is one such.

Wow, I need to make a bunch of various gauges/instruments (for mostly bikes and golf carts). I'm spellbound to see you guys get into vehicle electronics. Best of luck and blessings on your efforts. I'm also an electrical engineer if I can be of any assistance. Thanks for the update on Escargo, glad you din't drop it but, carry on you own course for sure.
