Thanks for the great archive film Mr Johnsen! God bless all those who served in WWII. They were indeed the greatest generation. I was blessed to have a father that served. He was, is, and always will be my hero. As always God bless you and yours and thanks again for everything you do! God bless the USA!!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🙏🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

This film is a great find with lots of eye candy for warbird buffs. BTW, the Sidi Ahmed airbase in Bizerte is still in operation (IATA code QIZ, ICAO DTTB), while the Mateur airstrip (which lies some 14 miles to the SW of Bizerte) was abandoned after WWII.

The top gunner named Olson in the briefing who shot down the ME109 is my father Carl E Olson. He's in back row left with mustache. He passed in 2002. I'm his only son Robert C Olson.

It was my pleasure to get to know a bunch of veterans of the 12th Bomb Group in the 1980s -- neat guys with stories to tell of North Africa and B-25s.

Very interesting footage - great stuff! By the type of insignia on the aircraft could tell film was from rather early in the war. Description says this film was from 1943 (probably when film released), 🤔 think film was shot a bit earlier in December of 1942 (when US air raids on Mateur & Sidi Ahmed were conducted - don't know if there were further raids in 43'). Interesting to see the field modification to incorporate single .50 cal machine gun in the tail of the B-25's (though rear gunner visibility had to have been extremely limited & super cramped quarters). A very similar field modification (single 50 cal. stinger in the tail) was made to early model B-17D's (mod. was featured in early WW2 movie but cannot remember the name.. 😶🌫) that were out of front line service by this point (late 42') in the war.
