I lost my only son, he was a mommas boy but loved by everyone!! He was only 24 years old. In and out of the hospital most of his life but lived life to its fullest! This song absolutely rips my heart out, in a good way. My only daughter is a mommas girl too but she was a daddys girl until he left after we lost our son! Life is always challenging ! Blessings 💞 everyone 🙏

Oi, chorei muito com o seu relato 😭😭. Triste demais. 🇧🇷 Brasil.

Lyrics❤️ Fathers love daughters like mothers love sons They've been writing our story before there was one From the day you arrive, 'til you walk, 'til you run There is nothing but pride, there is nothing but love They can offer advice that you don't wanna hear Words that cut like a knife and still ring in your ear You think of them ignorant, they think of you arrogant If you need evidence, who gave you confidence? A snap of the finger, and you're not a child But you're still holding on as you walk down the aisle When they give you away to hear someone else say That someone will love you 'til their dying day Fathers love daughters like mothers love sons They've been writing our story before there was one From the day you arrive, 'til you walk, 'til you run There is nothing but pride, there is nothing but love And that's the story of love You can choose to remember or choose to forget If they took you to school or they tucked you in bed You can say it don't matter, you won't do the same You'd think no one noticed when you looked away Fathers love daughters like mothers love sons They've been writing our story before there was one From the day you arrive, 'til you walk, 'til you run There is nothing but pride, there is nothing but love Now they're getting older and you ain't so young So you take care of them like your daughters and sons You can ask for forgiveness, they could ask for the same Forget all the anguish, the heartache, the pain Wherever you go or wherever you've been It's them that is with you, and that's you that's with them Fathers and daughters and mothers and sons As one story ends, another's begun Oh, fathers love daughters like mothers love sons They've been writing our story before there was one From the day you arrive, 'til you walk, 'til you run There is nothing but pride, there is nothing but love From hello to goodbye, that's the story of love Of love That's the story of love Of love
What an absolutely perfect song for a mother to dance with her son, or father with his daughter at a wedding.

This song is a masterpiece. Actualy, I feel like every Bon Jovi songs are masterpieces because they are so good. Jon is the best songwriter ever, he know how to capture the moment he know which word to say, he know life and what It mean. He know love he wrote the most beautiful love songs in history. His songs are so true and powerful he's the greatest. Story of Love is the love story that we have with our family. It's a beautiful song and I love it. He's also the greatest singer ever, I can't listen him talking and singing during hours and hours. His voice is pure gold, I love him so much. ❤️

I'm in the marching band and I made a family with other kids. It feels like they are my brothers and sisters and my band director feels like he is my dad. I feel like there is a good connection between me and my new family and this song best describes us. I had a hard life this year and last year. I lost my nana in late 2020 and I lost my great grandmother in the summer of this year. I am suffering from depression and have been quiet ever since. I have been quiet in my childhood and now so when I want to talk to someone that I trust and loved, I immediately feel better and deeply loved. Thank you for making my life feel better. I have been a huge fan since I was a toddler. I wish I could meet you in person but I don't think it'll happen but we'll see. Your songs are touching and I feel like that I was at a concert. It made me a better person. yours truly, Natalie Jones

This is so sweet. My 28 year old son has been in the hospital for over 3 weeks with Covid. It got very, very scary. Many nights he would tell me "I just want my mommy". Oh God the heartache of not being able to be there. On his hardest day in the ICU, I kept my phone on all night. Every time I heard him struggling to breathe, I would speak softly to him thru the phone: "I'm right here, breathe slowly. In- and out. Breathe in health and healing, breathe out all the toxins and virus cells that are invading your body. Breathe in- breathe out. I am right here". Hardest night of my life. His dad and I shed tears the next day. We knew the statistics. He's overweight and had asthma as a child. He was so scared- to have to have conversations with his doctors about resuscitation and life-supporting efforts.... He will now be able to come home soon- but he's a long-hauler. Clots in his lungs, one leg and one arm. Post-acute Covid induced Tachycardia. He'll be coming home on o2, with blood thinners and who knows what other medications. But he's coming home. That is what matters to me. I thought a few times that I was going to lose him. The doctors have all remarked about how strong he is. They said that their other patients experiencing the same level of severity as him were not doing as well. That's my boy though. Strong, determined and even a bit hard-headed. This is such a beautiful song and made me cry for sure. Thank you JBJ. You've been an inspiration to me since I first discovered you at 13. Slippery When Wet was the first concert I ever attended. My step-dad(who I considered my dad) took my friend and I. He missed work the day tickets came out to stand in line for hours to buy us some tixx for the show here in Portland, OR. (This story warrants its own chapter- so much to it) A few years ago, my adult daughter bought me a concert shirt from that show because I had lost mine from back int he day. It is framed and hangs in my piano room. Look at that- Jon Bon Jovi's legacy spread throughout the lives of all these kids and moms and dads just in my family alone! And here I am stumbling upon a song that serves as a tribute to my kids and parents story just as it does to every other kids and parents story.

THIS IS SO BEAUTIFUL. Thank you so much for everyone who has participated on making this video. This music video reminds me of my own family, reminds me of all the good and bad times we shared together , reminds me of every moment we had. And it's so sad to know that my parents are getting older and yes , snap of a finger and i'm not a child anymore. Now I have more responsibility to make my family happy and proud. The potrait of Jon's parents in the background is so beautiful. No matter how great you are , you must respect and love your parents. Jon, I'm sure your family will be so happy to see this video. My mom is a big fan of Bon Jovi and so am i. I promise to her that one day I'll take her to New Jersey to meet JBJ and visit the JBJ Soul Kitchen, i hope it'll come true. For everyone who reads this , don't forget to love and respect ur family.. May God bless you and your family always. Once again, thank you Jon , thank you Bon Jovi. ❤

Are you really with that grey-white hair? So nice. Me too, almost, and am only 39 years old! I was searching for your songs in youtube and remebering the 1995's concert in the old Estádio de Alvalade, in Lisboa - Portugal. I loved it and my father loved it too (he came just for curiosity and felt astonished with the energy he felt and became your fan too). I was your fan and was now singing the "Thank you for loving me" song and feeling very emotional and grateful. It is so beautiful to feel and I felt and recognising you are so part of my growth. Me and some of my friends were your fans (one of us - Inês - had your posters all over her room - even in the roof, so that she could look at you when she was going to sleep on her bed!) Good memories. Congratulations to all of you for all your legacy and thank you for still being here ;)

Thank you for writing my parents song. They are no longer with us. My Mom passed away in 2007 and my Dad followed her a year later. I always knew they could not live without each other and whichever passed first they would only last a year apart, Dad went to be with her one year and 8 days later. They were married 23 days shy of 66 years together. The way they loved each other and raised my brother and I, IS that song. My brother and his wife raised their sons in the same loving way and now the youngest has had his first child. Him and his wife are now carrying on with the way we were all raised. My nephew's wife, Lennox actually waited on you during the superbowl in Atlanta. A beautiful blonde who apparently one time when she was serving you her boss noticed she didn't call you Mr. Bon Jovi, her reply "He knows who he is." I knew then she was a perfect addition to the family. She had nothing but good things to say about you. No surprise of course. One more thing. My Mom became a fan in her mid 60's and she is why I am a fan. She never got the chance to see you perform live as you never performed close enough for us to be able to attend. However, in November of 2007 she was in the hospital and at that time I learned you would be in Kansas City, Mo in April of 2008. The doctor had already told me she had cancer and she might have 6 months to live but she had not be told yet. I went ahead and told her that you would be in Kansas City in April hoping that might give her an extra reason to fight especially once the doctor told her she was dying. Her words to me were "Honey, I'm afraid my Jon Bon Jovi days are over." It took everything I had not to cry. Since then when I remember those words I cry plenty. She knew it was time for her to move to heaven. She passed away November 28, 2007 at the age of 81. We took her home so she could pass away with Dad being by her side. He could no longer walk due to strokes and I made damn sure they would NOT go to a nursing home and I achieved that, thankfully. The line in The Story of Love referring to us children then take care of our parents was also fitting. I took care of both of them for their last 2 years and I am so grateful I was able to do that. She listened to your songs along with Elvis all day. She waited until my brother could arrive from Georgia to leave this earth. She was surrounded by family and all our dogs, 5 laid on the bed with her and I saw her leave. Hallelujah from your Crossroads performance was playing in the background. Her favorite song was Bed of Roses and she told everyone over the years she wanted that song played at her funeral and of course we did. Thanks to all that took the time to read this and even though Jon will never see this I just had to get it out in hopes just maybe he would. ❤❤❤❤

Story of Love Song by Bon Jovi Fathers love daughters like mothers love sons They've been writing our story before there was one From the day you arrive, 'til you walk, 'til you run There is nothing but pride, there is nothing but love They can offer advice that you don't wanna hear Words that cut like a knife and still ring in your ear You think of them ignorant, they think of you arrogant If you need evidence, who gave you confidence?
