While I am enjoying all the episodes in this great series I am noticing the contrast between Michael Landon as Little Joe Cartwright (I never liked that nickname) on Bonanza and Michal Landon as Jonathan Smith on Highway to Heaven. What else is on my mind is how Landon was described as the legendary actor Michael Landon. We who enjoyed him as a young actor who directed some of the episodes of Bonanza had no idea what heights he would rise to as he gained more experience and brought us Little House on the Prairie and Highway to Heaven the latter of which I enjoy on KZitem. It gives me a feeling of pride at the end of each episode with the words A Michael Landon Production. Little Joe sure grew up in an awe-inspiring way.

That’s crazy how they looked down on Little Joe then while he was young, but as the show progressed any real Bonanza fan will agree with me Real Fan,that Joe grew into a all around true man with skills that continually saved each Cartwrights life he actually turned out to be the most lethal and deadliestCartwright hands down no one I mean no one handled themselve as gracefully and as fluidity as Little Joe Cartwright that’s why The Hunter was the last episode had to end it with the strongest man standing.

Agreed the script doesn't make sense Me (If I were) as a hired killer would of held up the stage out in the country side where there were fewer witnesses That their crime was planned in middle of town makes no sense, But that would not of been as dramatic as an ending !!! It is also sad that Vic Morrow who play Ab was killed when he was decapitated along with two young boys when making a film Director by John Landis and produced by Steven Spielberg. He was only 53 too. Possibly my age but Bonanza is what I grew up with and I really enjoyed the show. In my days (the 60s) girls would not watch westerns but my dad liked watching them so I did too. I felt they portrayed a wonderful family just like mine and my dad was just like Pa. During the first lockdown with Covid here in the UK I watch all 431 episodes from season one to season 14. It brought back happy childhood memories. I was a mother to young children when Little House came out so I never saw this series until last year when in lockdown again I bought the box set and watched those. I was not keen on Highway To Heaven as felt it a bit silly. I still today watch an episode of Bonanza especially the funny ones.

It seems to me that Little Joe (and many other Cast members) wear their gun belts a little bit too low. At that position, the grip is right at the wrist meaning the gun is almost at arms length when holstered. Whenever he draws, the gun will clear the holster at a fairly low angle and require him to take a little longer to aim and fire (very bad for a sharp shooter). Anyways... Its probably a subjective thing. I'd rather have the grip a little higher than my wrist, so I'd wear the gun belt little higher on my waist. Little Joe is still pretty quick on the draw though! 😎

I don't understand the plot. Why does he want a sheriff? It wasn't critical because he later sent Joe away. Also, normally (in Westerns at least), a sheriff appoints a deputy whenever he leaves town. Why does the villain so openly meet with the killers? (They shouldn't be meeting in his home/office/hotel.) How was the stage arriving still going to be his big break? He's killing the person who's come to buy his property. A good story idea but the implementation felt weak.
