en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bonnie_Blue_flag The Bonnie Blue flew over the Republic of West Florida, the CSA and Texas. The flag shown here is the Lone Star. With a tip of the hat to Chile, the Lone Star flag has only flown over the Republic of Texas and the State of Texas. I do enjoy this rendition of the song.
@Tellgryn
Жыл бұрын
The Bonnie Blue flag was the flag of the Republic of Western Florida, the capital was St. Francisville and its flag was a blue field with a single white star. That is in the year of 1812, in Baton Rouge there are a number of roads named for the leaders of this short-lived republic. The Texas republic flag of 1836 was blue field and a yellow single star and that comes from the 2nd republic flag of a red field and a single white star from 1819.

My sister and I used to sit by her as she did the ironing as she told us the story. When the film was re-mastered in early 1970s the family went to watch it in the local cinema. We already knew the story just as mom had "painted' the scenes to us. I own the video and watching it brings back those memories of my sister and I back in the 1950s listening to our mom telling of the best film ever - in my mind. I'll

These traditions consisted primarily of English and Scottish ballads-which were essentially unaccompanied narrative-and dance music, such as reels, which were accompanied by a fiddle .Many older bluegrass songs come directly from the British Isles. Several Appalachian bluegrass ballads, such as "Pretty Saro", "Pretty Polly", "Cuckoo Bird" and "House Carpenter", come from England and preserve the English ballad tradition both melodically'. Quiet now.

@@jamesreveres335 so then why did the yankee states of Maryland, Delaware, Kentucky, West Virginia and Missouri have slavery? They also kept it till 1865 when congress voted to abolish slavery and all the states had to ratify it to stay in and not be under military dictatorship. The only reason congress voted to abolish slavery was because it was a way to cripple the south. We see this because the “40 acres and a mule” thing never actually came to pass. The north actually let the south to be more racist towards African-Americans than during the times of slavery. I bet you yankee lovers never realized the KKK hosted events in New York and Chicago and Washington DC. These events had millions in attendance and were covered on every newspaper. Why would the north do this if so pro equality? Its called fuel to the flame my friend. The north switched the reasoning for entering war with the south from secession to ending slavery and secession. The reason is because in 1862 the south was winning battle after battle because of far superior military high command. The north was loosing moral fast and needed something to boost support financially and with fresh troops. Lincoln had even been blowing Fredrick Douglas off for 2 years prior to him finally writing the emancipation proclamation; which only freed slaves in “states in rebellion.” We see this all through yankee live from the military to colleges. Harvard and Yale were white only in 1862 and African-Americans could only advance to the rank of sergeant. There were no commissioned African-American officers on the yankee side for the whole war. Wake up man. The human plays its fellow man to enrich itself off of the other.
