Well it's obvious to me: she has no self-confidence at all. She's like a scared little girl alongside Bonnie Raitt. There are plenty of others like this - great musicians who get mentored by a world class player but who really can't make it on their own (for example, Robert Cray with Eric Clapton).

I met Bonnie in the late 60s when her father John Raitt came to my high school to visit her brother Dave. Dad gave a beautiful recital in a teacher’s living room (it was a Friends boarding school) and afterwards Bonnie, Dave and walked around the campus talking about music (mostly Blues). She was unknown then but released her first album 2 years later and I fell in love.

I saw Bonnie killin' it at a small hall at the Univ. of Washington in the early '70's. That's 50 yrs of loving her music. She had me from the first song. Together with NJ? The best!

It's definitely a great version of 2 great, beautiful artists in Bonnie & Norah. However, Tennessee Waltz goes much further back than the 70's. This was the song for the first dance at my parent’s wedding in 1946. We played it at my Daughter’s wedding in 2016. My Dad is gone, my son in law danced with my Mom. That moment still brings me to tears.

I saw Norah at Humphreys by the bay and she was fixing that Wurlitzer that her dad had used, so proud. Such a natural gal.

I listened to a Nora Jones CD when I rented a car and drove from the airport to topsail Island NC in 2004. Hearing her voice always takes me right back to that summer.
