I highly recommend “And Then There Were None” by Agatha Christie as a mystery thriller book. (Also, you should totally give “The Name of the Wind” another shot. The first hundred pages or so are a little hard to get into because the main plot is told as a story within a story, so the beginning is the set up to telling the main story).
@checkinoutbooks7563

To get into Stephen King for the first time I suggest reading a collection of short stories first. It gets you used to his writing style (so much description) without being overwhelmed by 1,876 page count. Might I suggest The Skeleton Crew. Also, the first novel of his I read was Salem’s Lot, it seemed easier to get through than some of his others, it’s also terrifying!

Anything by Kaitlen Ward. She only has three books out, but they are SO GOOD!!!!!!! I’ve read every single one and they are always a page turner. There is some romance in some ( cHoGh ChOuGh) all the books. And it really more of a side plot than an actual main plot and it just adds the the story. The names of the books are Lie to me ( her latest release) Where She Fell (her second book) and Girl in A Bad Place (her first book). They all have some kind of phycopath in it and I love it! Also a book called How To Dissapear by Sharon Huss Roat, and That’s not What happened, by Kody Kiplinger. They are both sad books, and they both have made me cry numerous times. And I can relate both of the characters on a personal level. I love all these books and highly recommend. Sorry if these books are for some younger people, I’m 12 and not the highest reading level, but am at a high school level and these are all young adult since all of these books have some kind of trauma in it whether mentelly or physically or both for that matter ( I’m looking at you That’s not what happened.) Tell me if you’ve read these and what you’ve thought about them. Thx! All good wishes, Alaina

(long comment alert!) The Bear and the nightingale is AWESOME! The Ninth House was brilliant too (my only concern? I guess was that it took a while to get into - maybe it's just me though). For King's books I'd start with Carrie or Salem's lot as they are quite a bit shorter than most of his books but still tell the story really well. Mystery title from Anne Rice - Angel Time tells a story of a man who's not so good (let's just say that). It has also a bit of fantasy element to it and bit on a religious side. More mystery: Origin by Dan Brown (all of his books are mystery/thrillers but personally I think this one is his best one, also the newest) Bad Girls don't Die -Katie Alender - Dark academia/mystery, sequel not as good but ok Barefoot on the Wind - Zoe Marriott - fantasy retelling of Beauty and the beast, heavily inspired by Asian (I think mostly Japanese, sorry been a while since I read this one) culture Wicked like a Wildfire - Lana Popovic - fantasy story set in Croatia, along the lines of The Bear and the Nightingale Long Road to Mercy - David Baldacci - great mystery/thriller I'd also recommend reading The Witcher, for the translated works (I did find The Last Wish a bit dry but not sure about the rest of the series because I've not read them yet) Also Stack A Also reading Spirit Walker by Michelle Paver, which is a second book in the Chronicles of Ancient Darkness series - bit of middle grade fantasy for me this week ^^

For a mystery-type recommendation, I just finished reading Dreamland Burning by Jennifer Latham. It is basically a book told from two characters points of view (ya know each chapter is alternating between the two characters). Anyways, the first character (modern day) finds a skeleton on her family's property and she tries to determine who the killer is. The second character (1921) is living in Tulsa during the Tulsa race riots. So throughout the book you get to see how the stories of each character intertwine. I loved it and highly recommend!

I've read a good series (well until now part of that series) that lays within the first genre. The starter book is eeny meeny. It is an adult book series but I loved it. It is about this police woman/detective kind of, who solves the murder cases in Southampton. The murderer is always someone you don't see coming but that is what makes it so special. I read the first three books so fast because you just want to know who the murderer is. Anyway I'm not that good at describing but I love those books! Hope you are well.

I loved If we were villains and it's actually what sparked my interest in reading Shakespeare (I've never had to read him in school so I had no idea what I was getting myself into). Another adult fantasy book I'd like to recommend is Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell. It's kind of a mixture between alternative history and fantasy but what I liked most about this book was the way it balanced its fantastical elements with an incredibly authentic-seeming depiction of English society in the early 1800s.

I am currently reading The Warrior by Cinda Williams Chima. Name of the wind and its sequel Wise man's fear is a good series, it's different but interesting! I've read the first one but going to re-read it. I want my library back open because I have books that I want to read!! I know I have so many books but the library is calling my name! Also yeah I worked in a library at my college and know how to sort the books as we had to learn the code they sort it in and it can be confusing but later on, now it's easy to know and use quickly when needing a book.

Currently reading the The Rithmatist by Sanderson and am really liking it so far. Loved the part about letting people like what they like because we need so much more of that in this world. Stack C. Great video!

I'm also getting into thrillers (etc.)! I read 2 books by C.J. Tudor that I really liked (especially chalk-man was great imo), and currently reading Lock Every Door by Riley Sager, which is quite popular! I get recs from Booksandlala, I know you follow her so I'm sure you can get some good ones from her!! Also it's not really getting into, but since I'm quite new to booktube I'm tryna catch up with all the (ya) fantasy series I missed that are apparently very popular :) Love you and your videos! Hope you're staying sane and safe ✨✨

I used to work in a library and was tasked with checking each book on every shelf to make sure they were in the right order and to see if we could locate any missing books. I felt horror and revulsion go through my body when you said those books were organized by size.

You've got such a positive energy and you made me laugh so hard with the story of the library cleaner!! Tonight I'm finishing Crown of Midnight; and I plan to read Heir of Fire and Queen of Shadow this week. I will also try to finish reading Sapiens by Yuval Noah Harari :)
