Genre: Contemporary Christian romance
Audience: New Adult or Adult (clean enough for YA but with adult characters)
My summary: Katherine’s father passes away and leaves her and her sister a house. But the house is far away on the beach, and she doesn’t know why her father gave it to them. When Katherine and her sister travel to the house to sell it, she discovers much about her past.
The book reminded me of a Hallmark movie (a city girl goes to a small town where she meets a guy from her past, and various problems arise and almost split them up). Depending on if you like Hallmark movies or not, that could be a positive or negative.
Positives
The romance was clean and sweet.
The book was a fun summer story.
It’s a light read and feels positive.
Negatives
I wish characters had been developed more. The characters were kind and sweet, but most lacked a deeper dimension that would have made them feel like unique and realistic individuals.
The plot revealed so much early on that what could have been an intriguing mystery instead became easy to see.
Overall: Like a summer Hallmark movie
