Thanks for this review. I think Bare Bones by Vincent Pitisci is possibly the most comprehensive tome of a book -and the best value, you can get for reading Tarot de Marseilles. It’s thoroughly cross referenced, with even suggestions for what every single card can mean in every single position on the Celtic cross. That’s going some.

I’ve decided to buy this book based on your fantastic review. . Sadly Vincent passed away a few weeks ago. I saw a posting in a comment on you tube. That’s why there has been no content on his channel for the last 6 months. Very sad news. Thank you for your review, it was very helpful.

I just purchased this book! I have 3 of his books and his deck. He made reading tarot easy for me. I've been using the book of his that sort of looks like The Dark Side of the Moon album cover. I dont know if you're old enough to know that Pink Floyd album. This is an excellent review on his book, and now I am motivated to read more than the interpretations in them!

LEGENDARY album!!! (I'm 45 😉) And yes, I totally see what you mean about the cover! Thank you for your kind words regarding the review. I tried to present Vincent's book the best I could as I believe it is an awesome Tarot book. It's accessible for beginners and explains everything in a very down to earth manner but also provides deep insights for more experienced readers. It's easily in my top 3 Tarot books as a matter of fact and I have been reading Tarot for 30 years now. I also have his other books and they all bring something to the table.

Hello! Thank you for sharing this review. I was recommended Mr. Pitisci's work a couple of days ago so I'm looking for references about this particualr Tarot de Marseilles book. In 20 years learning Tarot I have never made a Celtic Cross with Marseilles cards (!!!) as I think the CC is a Waite/Smith Tarot technique but I believe I must open my mind to Mr. Pitisci's ways. Thank you again and keep the good work!

Hi there! Thank you for your kind words 🙏I am delighted you enjoyed the review. I really like Vincent's work because I believe as he does that the deck you use does not matter. In Bare Bones, he uses the Tarot de Marseilles he has created (which I have reviewed) and in his other books he uses the Rider Waite Smith. He also always mentions very often that the meanings of the cards stay the same, they do not change according to the deck because he reads more via numerology and attributes key words to each card which can be used on any decks. As for using the Tarot de Marseilles in a Celtic Cross, I do it all the time! 😊 You can use any spread with any deck really. in my opinion. I have been reading Tarot for 30 years and own a wide variety of decks which I all use the Celtic Cross with. Sometimes, a deck comes with their own special spread which I then use with all my decks to spice things up!😉 I also design my own spreads which I use with any Tarot deck. As for the origin of the Celtic Cross spread, it is thought to have come from the British Isles but as Tarot evolved mainly from word of mouth it makes it very difficult to be sure. We only know that it had been in use for quite a while before Waite published it for the first time in his book The Pictorial Key to the Tarot. In this book, he states: "I offer in the first place a short process which has been used privately for many years past in England, Scotland and Ireland. I do not think that it has been published - certainly not in connexion with Tarot cards; I believe that it will serve all purposes.” - A.E. Waite, 1910. I will finish by telling you I believe Vincent has a very approachable method to reading the cards and many nuggets of wisdom to share . I hope you'll enjoy his work as much as I do! Apologies for the lengthy reply, your comment really excited me and I could talk about Tarot all day!😅 I hope you have a wonderful end of the month.

@@thetarotofclaude First of all I loved the lenghty reply, thnak you very much. The Pictorial Key to the Tarot is the reason why in my mind the Waite Smith deck and the Celtic Cross is a match made in heaven and so it never crossed my mind to use the TdM in a Celtic Cross. This weekend I read (almost in one sit, hehehe!) Mr. Pitisci's first book, (The genius of Tarot) it was available for Kindle in my region and it was reeeally cheap (USD 2.00) and let me tell you it got me all excited again about Waite Smith deck + Celtic Cross readings. I really liked his creative views on the card meanings and interpretation philosophy. I'm still rejecting his idea the same meanings can be used with any deck mainly because my reading style is more optical oriented (Enrique Enriquez, Camelia Elias) so the image defines the narrative with few considerations for the quantities in minor arcana cards, but I'm ready to try willingly Mr. Pitisci's style with Waite Smith decks and clones! Once again thenk you very much, have a nice week!
