Our sweet Booker Baby. He has endured just about everything a dwarf life can throw at you. From nearly losing his eye as a young foal, to pneumonia, colic, multiple infections an abscess, arthritis and a body too small to properly fit his organs, Booker Baby has been through it all and with nary a complaint.
Those big brown eyes of his, always expressive, always looking, always hopeful. So, when an out of the blue nose bleed led us to the clinic, x-rays provided us with new information. The tip of Booker's right scapula was basically non-existent, as if it just dropped off. And, the joint between his neck and spine was pretty much fused together, explaining why he would move his whole upper body when turning his head.
With major deterioration of his ability to walk without constantly drifting off to the side, we made the decision to put our sorrow aside and make sure Booker's eternal life would be pain free.
As we let him go, holding him, whispering to him, and stroking his beautiful little face, we know that Booker's passing onto eternal peace was the most compassionate gift we could give him.
Our hearts will be eternally wrapped around his as in time, we can replace our sadness with the memories of Booker Baby's younger years, as a foal who defied all odds and lived a blissfully happy life.
And, while the feel of our barn may have shifted, the greater expanse of the heavens just became a little bit brighter.
Thank you for loving Booker Baby so passionately.
