@Luna Stiver I know that there are probably logistical reasons for it, but I love that the show follows a different period of their lives than the books

The Hacienda is pretty recent, dunno if you heard of it, book has a great angst and suspense fuel for me. And Mr Fox by Oyeyemi is my old fav

Actually, I lied. There are a few dark moments in The Little Emperor, with one particularly dark moment toward the end, and an anxious undercurrent. Still, it’s not super bleak or anything.

Books, books, books! :D I haven't read the books listed in the video, so my thoughts ought be taken with a grain of salt, but I really like how thoughtfully these reviews were constructed. Your assessment of the books is enjoyable to listen to and gives me a sense of each book's vibes without any major spoilers. Gonna have to give some of these a read! Thanks for the recommendations! ^^

I really love this! It definitely gave me a couple of things to add to my library. If you have a Goodreads account I would highly recommend plugging it and linking it in the description of the video if you make another one of these so that people can not only find a more in-depth opinion from you but from others who also read the books. ALSO! If you find engaging discourse in the comments, it would be really cool if you brought attention to them in your next video. I think that would give a lot of people a lot more incentive to watch the video and read the books you recommend

I'm almost finished my first book of the year, Life of Pi. Its movie made me want to read the book and after maybe 5 years I finally got around to reading it. The movie is now just okay by itself and unsatisfying compared to the book. I've always loved character driven and focused stories and this one definitely ticks the boxes. The Goblin Emperor has my interest tho so next time I find myself in a book store I'll search for it.

That's at least the second time I've heard very high praise for Life of Pi. Definitely adding it to my TBR. Hope you end up giving The Goblin Emperor a read! It's a plenty satisfying story on its own, but there's a sequel and I'm mildly interested.

wow, I really enjoyed this video!!!!!!! I'm haven't checked out the bookworm side of youtube, but if it's anything like this then maybe I should ashdjkllfjk I was massively excited to hear that you've read the goblin emperor-- it was one of the books I read during 2021 and was definitely my favorite. I would absolutely recommend the sequel, Witness To The Dead. It takes a totally different route from the Goblin Emperor by switching both POV characters (thara celehar of all people) and even genres (mystery lets go). I didn't expect to like it as much as I did, but it expands a lot on the worldbuilding by giving us a perspective of what life in the lower classes is like. The characters in this book are really appealing too-- Katharine Addison seems to have a talent for creating relatable yet unique personalities. Recommendations aside, great job and I'll definitely be checking out some of the books on your list!!!!!

Oh, booktube is a great space and I do hope you end up looking into it if this kind of content interests you. A favorite (of mine and most of booktube) is BooksandLala. Super personable and thoughtful with lots of creative video concepts. Extremely cool that you've also read The Goblin Emperor, and that recommendation for the sequel does excite me, since I felt the first book set up an interesting world and I was down for seeing more of it. And Thara POV, heck yeah!! Thanks so much for watching and commenting!

Crooked Kingdom was awesome. 🙏 Glad to hear you enjoyed it too! I don't regret reading the earlier grishaverse books myself, but skipping them is not a huge loss. I read Iron Widow by Xiran Jay Zhao this year, which I very much enjoyed. Really set off my search hounds for novel Sci Fi stories.

My discovery of the year (for now) was the Stormlight Archive Serie by Brandon Sanderson! I'm sure you've already hear of it. If you liked the Goblin Imperor for its character focussed plot, I'm sure you'll like the Stormlight Archive!

I keep meaning to get into reading more since i wanna be writer and rarely finish things i start on. Got really far into the silence of the lambs, and revisited a childhood classic in the Deltora quest omnibus I got, but I've been seriously slacking! I'll check out Six of Crows and the Goblin Emperor since they sound interesting to me.

I stand with you in solidarity about not finishing things. Good luck to both of us! I was also in the midst of Silence of the Lambs, but it's been so long since I started that I should start over, which is fine since I enjoy it. Have you read Red Dragon or is it your first Hannibal book? I'd never heard of Delta Quest but the fact that it got an anime adaptation immediately makes me 👀
@PumpkinLuke
2 жыл бұрын
@@Ashestoashesjc I've been on a Hannibal kick since 2020, but I hadn't touched the books until this year when my sister gave me her copy of silence of the lambs, looking forward to reading red dragon next (even though it comes first) because i really like Will Graham in every adaptation I've seen, I'm curious to see how Thomas Harris writes his empathy disorder interfering with his day-to-day. Also, Deltora Quest is great, both the anime and books hold up as some pretty great adventure stories. And I'm pretty sure the manga takes a wholly different route with it's story, so that's fun.
