Horror is always going to be an escape from reality for many people. We need dreadful things to temporarily eclipse the lousy things we're going through, be it a widespread disease or war or whatever. In the 1940's I'm sure that people went to see "The Wolf Man" and "House of Frankenstein" during wartime; the make-believe fears take our minds off the real ones for a little while.

Hoping so much that this stays true to the original, and remains as vivid, as Barkers novel’s ‘The Books of Blood vol’s 1&2’; which I read for the first time over 25 years ago as a young teen of 13. It was the writings of Barker that set me on a lifetime horror loving journey and was my beginning in becoming a long time fan of all of his stories and novels. To do anything less than his vision would be a travesty to such horror masterpieces. My all time favorite tale from both volumes is “Jacqueline Ess: Her Will and Testament”. Hope beyond hope that they do this story and do it true to the original. Because it’s incredible. He’s long been one of my favorite authors and no one does imaginative horror like Clive Barker, or better than Clive Barker; he elevates horror writing to an art form unlike any other. He’s a genius of the written page. And I’m hoping this lives up to that genius. BUT WHY ISN’T IT AN ANTHOLOGY SHOW? It is literally based on two volumes of anthology horror!!! Why isn’t it a show?? 😩
@rebeccahopkins9522

alego 723 not necessarily. This movie is a STREAMING CHANNEL movie after all. Premium channels have done some outstanding horror/supernatural shows and some Streaming channels have done outstanding horror as of late. Hulu, Netflix and long time original horror hot spot HBO all have made outstanding horror, supernatural and Sci Fi shows. It is not the tv of old like when original Tales From The Dark Side, Tales From The Crypt and Outer Limits were on in the 80’s and 90’s and watered down the horror (even though Dark Side did The Yattering And Jack it was toned way down from the original Clive Barker story). Tv has grown in leaps and bounds since then. Streaming and premium is often better than a lot of movies now as the movies have pulled back from doing R rated horror.

The film is made up of three stories, and one more as a connector, I think. It wouldn't be fair to consider The Book of Blood as one of the three main stories, because in books it works like glue. If we exclude from the trailer the parts that refer to Simon in The Book of Blood, we can separate scenes from 3 different segments: - The psychologist who sees the ghost of her dead leukemic daughter in bed (Anna Friel as Mary) - The girl who suffers from misphonia (Britt Robertson as Jenna) - The two men who travel by car to an inhospitable town where they have never been (Yul Vazquez as Bennett, and his partner) The images in this third segment fit with the beginning of "In the Hills, the Cities". The devastated neighborhood we see in the trailer as they drive (and in the filming shots) seems to have been crushed by something (something huge). On the other hand, there are two drawings in a notebook where we see a lot of people voluntarily throwing themselves off a cliff into a mass made of piled up human bodies. It's seems like a pact of sacrifice. This could be a representation of the creation process of the titans. According to Braga's words, Bennett is a criminal who wants to steal a rare book and in his quest gets involved in something supernatural. It is clear that the book is "Simon", the book of blood, which fits the thief character of the short story (and its second half "On Jerusalem Street"). If so, the supernatural event that interrupts their quest could be the battle of the giants. At the end of the trailer we see how "something", from the heights, looks at Bennett (alone, without his partner) in an Aerial Shot. Bennett is on the coast, so his story is related to the drawings on the cliff. This shot could match one of the last moments of the short story, which is similar. It's just vague ideas and deductions, but it fits well, and Hulu isn't telling us everything, I guess to surprise the audience.

KZitem shows me this trailer today when I saw this dream during the early morning hours today - in which on my palms I could see an ancient civilization sketch appearing from the blood inside. What would appear like a henna tattoo was actually my blood creating those drawings of the buildings, temples, and the entire landscape of an old civilization. Co-incidence?! Maybe or maybe not. But, it sure looks like I have a certain connection with the rich culture of an ancient civilization. The headaches post the lucid dreaming makes me feel like I need another hour of sleep to feel fresh.

How could you have one of the best horror anthologies ever and make a boring, predicable MOVIE? I'm going to scream in a pillow out of frustration. Edit: I hyped myself up for "In the Hills, The Cities" :(

I never read the books... I don’t get anything that happened in this trailer, except for psychic dude. Trailer didn’t make me feel like this show was worth tuning in. Kind of wish it just focused more on the psychic dude.

I've read all the books and nothing except the medium specifically points to the actual stories.

This seems rather light compared to the gruesome brutality of the source material.
