I love books set in that portion of Asia as well. The rich culture lends itself to stories with amazing vibes and atmosphere. I haven't read anything on this TBR, but I remember you saying you're always on the hunt for books similar to Memoirs of a Geisha and I feel that way also! I recently went to a library book sale where I picked up a handful of books set in China or Japan.

I LOVE this video :) Great selection and many I want to read/have read and loved :) Rape of Nanking is probably the one I am most looking forward to (and a little worried about reading as I think it's going to be shocking and horrible, but so essential too)

This was a great video to watch. I would like to read more books set in Asian countries. I've heard really good things about The Grace of Kings, but I've been in a little intimated to pick it up.

The Rape of Nanking was a very hard book to read due to the subject but it is a very important read. I cant say I liked it because of the subject but I am glad I read it.

Christina Helms I'm waiting for the right time to read it for the reasons you say I think I need to be in the right head space for that one 😀

SwirlyGirlyReads don't bother with Do Not Say We Have Nothing... it's utter rubbish! confusing and poor storyline.

Great books! I think you should read The Crazed by Ha Jin. It's set in China before and during the Tiananmen Square tragedy. lovely novel.
